For their match strategy, Rapid had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible. biathlon's I. Micu tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders. biathlon's H. Neuhäuser had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 31 minutes having been played. V. Banjac was the replacement. C. Firţulescu caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 32 minutes. This gave biathlon the 1 - 0 lead. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 0. biathlon claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 59 percent.

Rapid needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 50 minutes G. Braşoveanu made way for A. Siti. Undaunted, Rapid managed to tie it all up after 50 minutes, with K. Maseev's lucky free kick. The score was 1 - 1. The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of Rapid's P. Inguanzo after 54 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 1 - 2 lead. No matter how hard he tried, I. Micu just couldn't get his shot past the visitors' right side defence after 57 minutes. I. Vintilă of Rapid received a yellow card after 58 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. A. Kasznár's speed is always a threat when he gets a little room to move, and 66 minutes into the match was no different as he broke free of his man to send a delightful through ball to I. Hagiu who knocked it in for biathlon. 2 - 2! Many thought I. Hagiu ought to have been awarded a penalty 68 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around T. Mânzat after a determined run through the middle. After a fine move down the middle I. Micu nearly gave the home side a goal after 69 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide. Possession in this half belonged to biathlon, who controlled the ball 59 percent of the time.

The most dominating biathlon player was without a doubt V. Arşinel. V. Banjac was a disappointment, however. Rapid's top performer was clearly P. Inguanzo. C. Scripcaru turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 2 - 2.
