Filipescu came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 1 - 0, giving Hunedoara the lead. Hunedoara's P. Bălăceanu got himself booked for a foul. Cheers filled the stadium as D. Nae broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 2 - 0 to Hunedoara. I. Bălănica fired a shot from distance after 33 minutes, but the long shot couldn't find the net for Hunedoara. 2 - 0 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to Hunedoara, who controlled the ball 65 percent of the time.

With 56 minutes played, Hunedoara's P. Savu almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net. Hunedoara solidified their lead at the 75 minute mark, as P. Bălăceanu dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 3 - 0. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Hunedoara lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. Maratei's I. Größ had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 77 minutes having been played. J. Henden was the replacement. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Hunedoara's P. Bălăceanu increasing the lead to 4 - 0. Hunedoara claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 67 percent.

Hunedoara's best player was P. Bălăceanu. P. Buhaiu turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important Maratei player was C. Niţulescu. However, J. Henden made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 4 - 0.
