31-03-2012 10.10
Clouds darkened the skies at
Petrila Stadium as 14101 spectators turned up for the match.
Arthur Cameron was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Jussi Peurla and
Wilfried Rufner.
Petrila had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
They fielded: Baghdar - Pčelnikovas, Perono Garoffo, Tajè - Lanzas Codina, Sønes, Lambroni, Bortl, Groński - Castelão, Vashukov.
INCEPUT tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Colonnello - Las Heras Rueda, Schack-Kleinschmidt, Nygaard - Badin, Hodzelmans, Stietencron, Latorre, Padrenostro - Voitechovskis, Pfalzgraf.
Petrila clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle.
It was obvious that INCEPUT were using their pressing skill as their primary tactic.
INCEPUT's
F. Stietencron gave the visitors a 0 - 1 lead after 14 minutes with a superb strike from the right.
16 minutes into the game,
G. Lambroni had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came
D. Mikiciuk.
With 27 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed
T. Latorre of INCEPUT to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 2.
The home side worked their way through the middle and almost got one back when
B. Sønes tried to sneak the ball past the keeper.
V. Colonnello was too alert for that!
The bicycle kick from
C. Pfalzgraf would have been the Goal of the Year for INCEPUT, had it not hit the post.
It was 0 - 2 at the break.
INCEPUT enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 54 percent of possession.
The pressing tactics used by INCEPUT were successful as the ball remained close to the half way line at all times.
After 62 minutes,
A. Vashukov had a good opportunity to reduce the scoreline for Petrila with a chance created through the middle, but wasn't cool enough. The ball went miles over the bar.
The referee signalled a penalty 65 minutes into the game following an offence which looked like it was outside the box.
K. Schack-Kleinschmidt knocked it home to make the score 0 - 3.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of INCEPUT lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
76 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 4 as
F. Badin finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by INCEPUT, with 58 percent of the ball.
C. Castelão performed admirably for Petrila.
D. Mikiciuk was a disappointment, however.
INCEPUT's best player was
M. Las Heras Rueda.
F. Badin on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 0 - 4.
