The 43106 spectators at CHAMPION Arena were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Edgar Bedoya was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Fuad Mehralıyev and Nathan Goeman. DRT decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. The following players took the field: Goll - Doršs, Schomer, Gröngård - Csöke, Ganev, Gunnarsson, Coulange, Pottier - Malmbo, Dubois.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Blues. They fielded: Tomíček - Bronikowski, Cortabarría, Strandberg - Lenert, Sünn, Vammen, Wavik, Sydänmetsä - Raimundo, González.

DRT used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for DRT, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to E. Csöke, but the DRT player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0! The visiting team's P. Vammen was able to score the 1 - 1 equaliser with a header 9 minutes into the match, after some good work on the right. R. Dubois gave DRT the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 2 - 1 Some brilliant football from the visitors' right wing resulted in a levelling of the score as Blues's N. González put the ball in the onion bag after 24 minutes to make it 2 - 2. 28 minutes in, Blues's E. Cortabarría received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. After a fine move down the middle R. Dubois nearly gave the home side a goal after 29 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide. 2 - 2 was the score after the first half. Possession in this half belonged to DRT, who controlled the ball 58 percent of the time.

With 58 minutes played P. Malmbo almost put the home team one ahead on a cross coming in from the right, but the shot went just wide. After a savage shot that could only be parried by the keeper, R. Dubois demonstrated his experience by being in just the right place to slot home the rebound. His goal for DRT 66 minutes into the match made the score 3 - 2. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Blues's N. González was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 71 minutes. G. Ringard was given a chance to change things around. Blues needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 72 minutes P. Vammen made way for C. Hoset. With 82 minutes played, DRT's R. Dubois almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net. DRT managed to extend their lead to 4 - 2 when R. Dubois cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. This third goal completed a hattrick for R. Dubois. C. Ganev could have increased the lead after 86 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. 87 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as R. Dubois broke through, making the score 5 - 2 for DRT. Blues's E. Cortabarría refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 89 minutes. DRT claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 53 percent.

R. Dubois performed admirably for DRT. However, I. Pottier made a disastrous appearance. Blues's best player was V. Raimundo. J. Bronikowski on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 5 - 2.
