4689 spectators had found their way to
Sk Smichov Arena, despite the heavy rain.
Ruud Rynsewyn was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Jozef Kwoka and
Håkan Brandman.
People from all over
Hlavní město Praha had joined up for the derby.
Smichov had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
Lineup: Peřina - Hencl, Nevím, Karel, Mikule - Polák, Ziegler, Miška, Křepinský - Smyček, Zábranský.
FCBlaugranas tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
Starters: Hübsch - Zůna, Mayer, Kašík, Makovský - Bláha, Broukal, Komárek, Šedý - Česal, Rybáček.
Smichov took the lead 18 minutes into the game by 1 - 0, as
J. Hencl elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
V. Kašík from FCBlaugranas a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 19 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
A loud groan was heard from the fans of Smichov, as
F. Mikule left the pitch in too much pain to finish the match.
R. Štěpánek took his place on the field.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as Smichov scored another to make it 2 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
P. Zábranský after 29 minutes.
Cheers filled the stadium as
T. Smyček broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 3 - 0 to Smichov.
The players of Smichov now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
The rain made it hard for players like
V. Polák to show their technical control of the ball on this soggy day.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
T. Smyček squirmed through their central defence after 38 minutes, increasing the lead to 4 - 0.
It was 4 - 0 at the break.
Possession in this half belonged to Smichov, who controlled the ball 68 percent of the time.
51 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
T. Smyček broke through, making the score 5 - 0 for Smichov.
By then
T. Smyček had scored three goals - a hat trick!
J. Hencl knocked one home from a counterattack down the right wing, making the score 6 - 0 after 54 minutes.
P. Zábranský had a fantastic opportunity to put Smichov up another goal 59 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar.
V. Kašík, who often relies on his speed, had a rotten day on the drenched grass.
R. Štěpánek should probably have put his team up another goal after 63 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
G. Hübsch kept the visitors in the game.
J. Zůna of FCBlaugranas was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Smichov's
F. Křepinský increasing the lead to 7 - 0.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Smichov, with 73 percent of the ball.
Smichov's top performer was clearly
T. Smyček.
R. Peřina was a disappointment, however.
FCBlaugranas's best player was
V. Rybáček.
However,
G. Hübsch made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 7 - 0.
