12-05-2012 12.00
38500 spectators had come to
El cuccio rosanero this cloudy day.
Alexandre Favennec was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Izidor Petreković and
Rafael Tomás.
A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Gigione.
Starters: Ltifi - Fornasieri, Albano, Gat, Vanderbist - Estélyi, Isamit, Jensen, Bruneau - Kwang Yi, Massaguer.
W.L.F. tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Fergelis - Gripenberg, Lefrançois - Massai, Bruno, Scarpa, De Gregori, Clarys - Satta, Tolloi, Montanaro.
It was an obvious ambition of W.L.F. to use their ability at attacking on the flanks.
They were singing the praises of
J. Fornasieri 21 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 1 - 0 to Gigione.
The home team will be cursing
R. Bruno for weeks; he finished off a great pass from the left, knocking it past the keeper without a problem. The match was level at 1 - 1 after 24 minutes.
Gigione took the lead after 26 minutes as a result of
L. Kwang Yi's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 2 - 1.
Gigione's
R. Isamit got himself booked for a foul.
Cheers filled the stadium as
L. Kwang Yi broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 3 - 1 to Gigione.
Morale on the visitors' bench was greatly improved when their
A. De Gregori reduced the lead to make it 3 - 2 after 37 minutes, following a pass from the right.
3 - 2 was the halftime score.
W.L.F. enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 56 percent of possession.
F. Ltifi's name was chanted throughout the stadium after he made a fantastic save from
Y. Lefrançois's shot from the left 47 minutes into the match.
The visitors' equaliser seemed sure to come after 50 minutes, following a one on one situation around the left hand side of the goal area, but
F. Ltifi got the best of it, blocking the shot from
B. Montanaro.
Gigione increased the lead as
L. Kwang Yi struck to make the score 4 - 2 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
At that,
L. Kwang Yi was noted down for a hat trick!
After 60 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
H. Massaguer gave the Gigione supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 5 - 2.
The players of Gigione now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
The away team improved the scoreline to 5 - 3, as
Y. Lefrançois struck home, set up well by a play on the left 62 minutes into the match.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by W.L.F., with 58 percent of the ball.
H. Massaguer performed admirably for Gigione.
F. Bruneau was a disappointment, however.
W.L.F.'s best player was
F. Satta.
S. Fergelis turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 5 - 3.
