05-05-2012 12.00
35011 spectators had come to
Olimpico S. Adriano this cloudy day.
Braňo Hájek was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Arturo Hernández and
Alberto Zapico.
Taits had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
They fielded: Gálviz - Ensebaev, Maziarka, Adolfsson - Lentini, Passarelli, Marques, Casolari, Braconi - Vidotto, Lopes.
A 5-3-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Charlie.
The following players took the field: Garbati - Rossi, Mosca, Toscano, Ananio, Passarelli - Feruglio, Zanchi, Passiatore - Galeno, Vertemati.
Today, Taits's strategy involved concentrating on the flanks for their attacks.
For their match strategy, Charlie had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible.
S. Vidotto gave Taits the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 1 - 0
Charlie's
B. Galeno had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 23 minutes having been played.
I. Tibi was the replacement.
F. Rossi behaved like an inexperienced youth player after 31 minutes as he gave the ball away to
A. Braconi. Lucky for him though, there was no goal.
Taits were determined to attack on the wing and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favour of the wings.
Taits managed to extend their lead to 2 - 0 when
R. Casolari cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
Players in Taits heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead.
Taits put themselves up 3 - 0 when
S. Vidotto broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake.
The home side's
M. Adolfsson came close to extending the lead 40 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but
O. Garbati managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop.
Taits put in a good effort on the right, but
L. Marques saw his volley fly wide of the mark 41 minutes into the game.
The teams went for the halftime break at 3 - 0.
Taits claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 84 percent.
S. Vidotto should probably have put his team up another goal after 47 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
O. Garbati kept the visitors in the game.
Good work by the Charlie defensive line after 48 minutes produced a good counterattack chance, which cut elegantly down the middle of the pitch and found
I. Tibi alone in front of the goal, but his shot whistled just wide.
With 50 minutes played, Taits put themselves up 4 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
T. Lopes, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home.
After 66 minutes Taits's
S. Vidotto contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game.
R. Casolari increased the lead for Taits to 5 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it!
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Taits, with 84 percent of the ball.
Most important Taits player was
A. Passarelli.
A. Braconi was a disappointment, however.
Charlie's best player was
R. Ananio.
I. Tibi on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 5 - 0.
