The 31827 fans in attendance at The Cage were roasting in the hot sun. Rob Thorbo was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Mikke Friberg and Francisco Murciano. F.C. had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Lineup: Stierstorfer - Dutkowski, Gervasi, Zeelen - Maestro, Plebani, Baliqi, Palareti, Rodamilans - Chella, Simoncini.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Moie. The following players had been chosen: Guolo - Ciochină, Piasenzotto, Zanfardino - Lejska, Botti, Mariconti, Autunnali, Stabile - Lamih, Wolfowich.

F.C.'s M. Simoncini was shown a yellow card after 23 minutes for slicing down an opponent. The home side put themselves ahead 1 - 0 after 27 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from G. Gervasi, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing. M. Palareti increased the lead for F.C. to 2 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it! A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in F.C.'s F. Maestro increasing the lead to 3 - 0. Halftime score was 3 - 0. F.C. claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 54 percent.

A bit later, Moie's P. Mariconti easily reduced the lead to 3 - 1 after a misunderstanding in the home side's central defence. F.C. increased the lead as F. Maestro struck to make the score 4 - 1 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. The players of F.C. now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. 74 minutes into the game, F.C. were awarded a penalty that G. Chella turned into 5 - 1 without a problem. 75 minutes into the match F.C.'s M. Rodamilans viciously shoved another player from behind while going for a loose ball and was sent off the pitch with a red card. G. Autunnali behaved like an inexperienced youth player after 76 minutes as he gave the ball away to Z. Baliqi. Lucky for him though, there was no goal. Moie kept trying to force their way through on the right side and H. Lejska got his chance after 80 minutes, but the home side's defence held their position and stopped the attack. There was concern in the stands when, at the 81 minute mark, F.C.'s O. Plebani hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch. Possession in this half belonged to F.C., who controlled the ball 51 percent of the time.

F.C.'s best player was M. Simoncini. W. Stierstorfer turned in a dismal performance, however. Moie's top performer was clearly M. Botti. D. Stabile on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 5 - 1.
