27077 punters turned up at
romaas Arena, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Klamer Dijsselhof was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Lorenzo De Coene and
Willibald Krebs.
romaas tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
They fielded: Vivar - Bratek, Aho, Nukki - Costamagna, Palán, Migheli, Hansen, Cargnelutti - Soldati, Pongolini.
Selargius started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Tauschmann - D'Heere, Pistolato, Schoenmaker - Litke, Maset, Isola, Nave, Vignozzi - Obino, Magazzini.
The most controversial moment of the game was likely the penalty given after 13 minutes. Selargius's
J. Pistolato kept his concentration, despite the upset crowd, and calmly put the ball past the keeper to make the score 0 - 1.
The visitors'
M. Obino took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 14 minutes into the match. 0 - 2 for Selargius.
It was 0 - 2 at the break.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by romaas, with 53 percent of the ball.
romaas were awarded a penalty 47 minutes into the match and
R. Hansen fired the ball into the net to make the score 1 - 2.
Selargius made it 1 - 3 as
T. Vignozzi got a touch to the floated corner kick and flicked the ball to
A. Maset who whipped a low drive in off the far post.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
P. Costamagna from romaas a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 82 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
After 83 minutes, Selargius's
F. Magazzini burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 1 - 4.
R. Hansen charged down the left and looked sure to score for romaas 85 minutes into the game, but his shot went just wide.
86 minutes were showing on the scoreboard when romaas's
P. Costamagna received his second yellow card and was sent off.
T. Vignozzi was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so Selargius's
G. Equizi had to come off the bench.
Selargius came close to extending their lead as
M. Obino delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 87 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting.
Possession in this half belonged to romaas, who controlled the ball 53 percent of the time.
The most dominating romaas player was without a doubt
P. Soldati.
However,
N. Pongolini made a disastrous appearance.
M. Nave performed admirably for Selargius.
G. Equizi turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 1 - 4.
