previous 6/10 next 8/10  Torretta 2 - 0 Viola (366070379)

29788 spectators had found their way to Torretta Stadium, despite the heavy rain. Tore Kronenberg was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Lasse Bredal Nielsen and Kuba Arciszewski. Torretta decided to use a 4-4-2 set up. Starters: Brener - Forouzesh, Aldini, Mattos, Pál - Leclercq, Villani, Spicci, Carrasquilla - Mariancini, Murcia.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Viola. The following players had been chosen: Falsaperla - Drago, Gunsch, Alinari - Scala, Marighetti, Barbarossa, Bisiacco, Galantucci - Paolucci, Criscenzo.

P. Marighetti, who often relies on his speed, had a rotten day on the drenched grass. They were singing the praises of A. Murcia 15 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 1 - 0 to Torretta. With 36 minutes played, G. Alinari came in from the right and could have evened the score, but the defenders successfully repelled the attack by Viola. The game was characterised by rough play and many physical challenges on the wet field, but L. Barbarossa showed great heart and had a good game. Viola's P. Marighetti got himself booked for a foul. 44 minutes into the game, F. Criscenzo had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came N. Filicori. 1 - 0 was the score after the first half. Viola had most of the ball, with 51 percent of possession.

Torretta were great at switching from defence to attack, and after 59 minutes, E. Carrasquilla swept through the middle on a counterattack, making the score 2 - 0. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Torretta lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. With the clock showing 76 minutes played, a great pass from the defensive line of Viola resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by E. Galantucci in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high. After 83 minutes, following yet another great corner, B. Forouzesh's flick on at the near post reached M. Pál, who was just wide with his snapshot - the ball went out for a goal kick. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Viola, with 51 percent of the ball.

Most important Torretta player was M. Pál. E. Carrasquilla on the other hand, had a terrible day. M. Paolucci performed admirably for Viola. However, N. Filicori made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 2 - 0.
