Pinda 0 - 0 Sporting (366122856)

19479 spectators had come to Parco dei Gorghi this cloudy day. Giuliano De Craene was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ivo Anselmo and Kev Muntz. Pinda started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Yu - Skywalker, Oca, Katunarić, Pelozo - Cavanna, Sasson, Košuta, Tudor - Lynch, Lakić.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Sporting. Lineup: Irarrázaval - Vatral, Vandoninck, Kleinmühlen - Häggtorp, Peräkoski, Totti, Bartoli, Menegon - Gómez de la Blanca, Jiménez.

Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Pinda. After a fine move down the middle R. Skywalker nearly gave the home side a goal after 10 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide. 27 minutes into the game, N. Jiménez almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. Slack defending gave Pinda a chance to take the lead with 30 minutes played, but G. Tudor's cross from the left flank was fumbled in front of the goal and easily dealt with by the opposition. Given a free kick in a difficult position after 33 minutes, Sporting tried a variation that they had practised in training. The kick was sent into the area just in front of the keeper. However, the defence were on their toes and allowed no space for a finish. 0 - 0 was the halftime score. Pinda claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 51 percent.

The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when N. Jiménez was unable to put the ball in the net after his show of skill down the left 47 minutes into the match. He was seen beating the pitch in frustration at missing such a good chance to give his team the lead! Neither team was controlling the possession at this point in the match, with the stats showing a 50:50 split.

The most dominating Pinda player was without a doubt R. Lynch. D. Pelozo was a disappointment, however. Most important Sporting player was M. Gómez de la Blanca. However, G. Menegon made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 0.
