previous 5/10 next 7/10  Melinte 4 - 1 Teate89 (366138476)

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 25125 to VmcWebService.com Arena. Kaspar Schaffhauser was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Antti Roito and Indrek Kartau. Melinte had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. They fielded: Preguinho - Cancela, Iracorri, Wyden - Paakkunainen, Krebs, Sharf, Zornack - Kotorov, Więcławek, Hoffmann.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Teate89. Starters: Alocci - Guina, Steffen, Fornell - Rieto, Spicola, Zanenga, Pokorni, Pittarello - Brøndum, Vogelenzang.

The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to T. Zornack, but the Melinte player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0! Teate89 had to make a substitution after 16 minutes. Á. Pokorni limped off the field and was replaced by R. Halleux. H. Cancela increased Melinte's lead to 2 - 0 with a penalty spot cannonball. After this, you could see that the players of Melinte were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. Given a free kick close to the byline, Melinte tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let K. Krebs slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 3 - 0, 33 minutes into the game. The referee showed Teate89's M. Rieto the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Melinte's A. Wyden went down after a savage challenge, but could continue playing after some medical attention. Melinte managed to extend their lead to 4 - 0 when C. Hoffmann cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. Melinte's K. Krebs left the field after 44 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was V. Ratzlaff. 4 - 0 was the halftime score. Melinte had most of the ball, with 63 percent of possession.

54 minutes into the match, the speedy V. Brøndum easily outpaced L. Iracorri, chipped the keeper and made the score 4 - 1. The home side's A. Sharf came close to extending the lead 74 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but G. Alocci managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Melinte, with 61 percent of the ball.

Most important Melinte player was P. Kotorov. A. Wyden was a disappointment, however. Teate89's top performer was clearly V. Brøndum. R. Halleux on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 4 - 1.
