(366152970)

05-05-2012 12.30
It had rained all day, but 26471 hardy fans still made it out to
Stadio Comunale Grassi.
Sedrick Petermann was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Onne Kroes and
Armanjani Karim Haj-Kaleel.
Pontecurone decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
The following players had been chosen: Wyrąbkiewicz - Gand, Xamaní, Ben Noam, Mustaţă - Roelofsz, Magrini, Pécsi, Dumitru - Urmuz, Radovančić.
Spenjkatras tactics involved an interesting 5-4-1 combination.
They fielded: Nevola - Dominech, Memedović, O'Donnell, Barbon, Della Ventura - Varcaro, Lo Piano, Costinha, Piacitelli - Todesco.
Pontecurone displayed their ability to play creatively.
Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Spenjkatras.
F. Barbon was having a great game - if anything the pouring rain seemed to be spurring him on!
At 20 minutes played,
R. Xamaní came in from the right with the intention of giving Pontecurone the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar.
Pontecurone's
V. Mustaţă got himself booked for a foul.
A loud groan was heard from the fans of Spenjkatras, as
G. Costinha left the pitch in too much pain to finish the match.
F. Scalisi took his place on the field.
After 36 minutes Spenjkatras tried to exploit their counterattacking skills, unfortunately,
M. Lo Piano's shot sailed wide after his break down the right.
A. Roelofsz gave Pontecurone the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 1 - 0
1 - 0 was the halftime score.
Pontecurone had most of the ball, with 72 percent of possession.
Pontecurone's
C. Gand increased the lead to 2 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 59 minutes.
Spenjkatras's counterattacks created a good chance for
M. Lo Piano on the right after 63 minutes, but he could only look on with dismay as his strike rebounded off the crossbar.
After 70 minutes
N. Radovančić made a speedy advance and dropped the ball to
L. Urmuz who shuffled it past the keeper. The score was now 3 - 0.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of Pontecurone lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
Spenjkatras mounted an inspired counterattack down the right wing after 75 minutes, but
F. Piacitelli was unable to convert from short range.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Pontecurone, with 71 percent of the ball.
The most dominating Pontecurone player was without a doubt
C. Gand.
On the other hand,
S. Ben Noam's play was disheartening.
D. Nevola performed admirably for Spenjkatras.
A. Della Ventura turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 3 - 0.
