(366381402)

05-05-2012 12.55
Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 12000 to
Monte Croce.
Wilfried Rufner was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Peter Schoenebeck and
Valentin Mogos.
Turri decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
The following players had been chosen: Tomaszewski - Bauer, Rücker, Kočiš - Fronas, Turino, Tzarfati, Haapiainen, Notko - Michas, Bernhardt.
atletico tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
They fielded: Passarini - Saltarelli, Martins Ramos, Dahms - Malik, De Masi, Magelli, Araújo, Ciappesoni - Calderoni, Dobel.
Turri used their skill at pressing to cut off the attack angles of their opponents all over the field.
For their match strategy, atletico had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible.
Slack defending gave Turri a chance to take the lead with 14 minutes played, but
J. Haapiainen's cross from the left flank was fumbled in front of the goal and easily dealt with by the opposition.
The terraces were silenced after 17 minutes when atletico's
M. De Masi put the guests ahead 0 - 1, following an attack on the right.
The crowd was on its feet 21 minutes into the match, as Turri's
Y. Bernhardt found himself unmarked in front of the goal after a dash up the left side. He calmly put away the 1 - 1 equaliser.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
G. Martins Ramos from atletico a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 22 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Unfortunately for Turri,
F. Tomaszewski was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field.
F. Nisii replaced him.
Halftime score was 1 - 1.
Possession in this half belonged to Turri, who controlled the ball 54 percent of the time.
After 62 minutes,
J. Haapiainen came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 2 - 1, giving Turri the lead.
The Turri players could smell victory in the air.
J. Haapiainen wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for
T. Láznička after 65 minutes.
Coming from the right,
M. Rücker almost managed to score another goal for Turri, but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper.
Content with how the game was proceeding, the Turri coach let
T. Başbuğ replace
A. Bauer after 72 minutes.
The home side's
T. Kočiš came close to extending the lead 75 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but
A. Passarini managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop.
atletico were able to draw a foul with their counterattacks, but the shot from
C. Araújo went into the arms of the keeper.
Some brilliant football from the visitors' right wing resulted in a levelling of the score as atletico's
C. Araújo put the ball in the onion bag after 80 minutes to make it 2 - 2.
G. Magelli's inexperience was obvious when his continual hesitation to put in a tackle allowed
T. Láznička plenty of time to pick an unguarded area of the goal for his shot, marking one for Turri. 3 - 2.
At this time in the match, Turri were using their skill at pressing to successfully stifle the game.
Turri claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 57 percent.
Turri's top performer was clearly
T. Kočiš.
F. Nisii on the other hand, had a terrible day.
atletico's best player was
L. Dobel.
A. Passarini turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 3 - 2.
