After some beautiful movement down the left wing, S. Svetlykh scored for Varenie putting them ahead 1 - 0, after 29 minutes. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Varenie to 2 - 0 as G. Dāvidsons finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. Varenie's A. Kairāns increased the lead to 3 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 42 minutes. P. Wyrobek unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. Varenie's J. Kļaviņš was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 44 minutes. Varenie's H. Bondars saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 44 minutes. Cesis's counterattacks created a good chance for V.
