previous 7/10 next 9/10  BDC* 2 - 0 Tukuma (366414651)

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 34182 at Nothind else truckers today. Voldemar Laidinen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ties van Bijnen and Augustus de Geer. BDC* had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. The following players took the field: Ramos - Guixà, Winterbourn, Domaradzki, Sénéchal - Podlasek, Lammi, Ben Noam, Drupais - do Carmo, Greenhalgh.

Tukuma tactics involved an interesting 5-4-1 combination. They fielded: Van Himst - Jacquinet, Grados, Tamayo Arce, Evrard, Sulkowski - Krūmiņš, Tiozzo, Routledge, Ionescu - Siebente.

Tukuma were clearly looking ahead to the next match rather than focusing on the one at hand. BDC* seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. They were singing the praises of V. do Carmo 10 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 1 - 0 to BDC*. A. Greenhalgh increased BDC*'s lead to 2 - 0 with a penalty spot cannonball. Tukuma's F. Jacquinet was shown a yellow card after 28 minutes for slicing down an opponent. The crowd gasped as M. Evrard of Tukuma was flattened by an opponent after 33 minutes and had to be carried off. K. Ouwehand came in off the bench. Coming in on the left, F. Jacquinet did everything right to get a goal for Tukuma after 35 minutes, but his finishing shot was stabbed clear by the keeper. It was 2 - 0 at the break. Tukuma had most of the ball, with 58 percent of possession.

The Tukuma coach was infuriated with the lax attitude of his players during the first half, and rightly so. As the players returned from the dressing room, it was clear that his message had sunk in. The crowd roared its approval when D. Ramos somehow managed to block a shot which seemed to be a certain goal by Tukuma's A. Grados 56 minutes into the game. Possession in this half belonged to Tukuma, who controlled the ball 60 percent of the time.

Most important BDC* player was D. Ramos. M. Lammi was a disappointment, however. Tukuma's best player was P. Siebente. K. Ouwehand turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 2 - 0.
