26-05-2012 12.55
Dark skies made the crowd of 12000 at
"Footbattle-Arena" a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Fabio Ferrio was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Alberto Vega and
Alfonz Makay.
Hidalgo decided to use a 5-3-2 set up.
The following players had been chosen: Tzalik - Yeo, Constant, Beiza, Tchernyshenko, Habermeyer - Torcque, Bortolato, Chiarelli - Hajizadeh, Grison.
Manganielli started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players took the field: Cerino - Ernstsen, Warnow, Nolze - Bellagotti, Bizzozero, Berkers, Búzás, Bach - Chauvet, Rigolli.
Hidalgo clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could.
For their match strategy, Manganielli had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible.
With 13 minutes played,
R. Warnow of Manganielli fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
Halftime score was 0 - 0.
Manganielli had most of the ball, with 51 percent of possession.
The guests almost went up by a goal after 49 minutes when
P. Chauvet came through and shot from the right. The ball bounced harmlessly off the post, though.
Hidalgo's
D. Chiarelli was shown a yellow card after 59 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
Manganielli were forced into a substitution as
N. Bellagotti couldn't continue due to some rough treatment, forcing
D. Casano to come in off the bench.
Some great play up the middle by Hidalgo led to a chance for
H. Hajizadeh to score after 76 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar.
A counterattack by Hidalgo after 86 minutes could have resulted in a goal, but
B. Torcque, coming in on the left, couldn't get the shot off.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
I. Grison from Hidalgo a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 88 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
With 89 minutes gone,
G. Bortolato suddenly found himself completely free on the right wing when a counterattack by Hidalgo caught their opponents by surprise. Only a great save by the opposing keeper prevented him from scoring.
Many thought
P. Habermeyer ought to have been awarded a penalty 89 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around
J. Cerino after a determined run through the middle.
Manganielli enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.
Hidalgo's top performer was clearly
D. Chiarelli.
S. Tzalik was a disappointment, however.
Most important Manganielli player was
P. Chauvet.
However,
J. Cerino made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 0 - 0.
