Dark skies made the crowd of 12000 at "Footbattle-Arena" a little nervous, but the rain held off. After thorough analysis and consultation of astrological charts, Hidalgo decided to go with a 5-3-2 formation. The following players had been selected: Tzalik - Yeo, Constant, Beiza, Tchernyshenko, Habermeyer - Torcque, Bortolato, Chiarelli - Hajizadeh, Grison.

Our studio analysts were correct. Manganielli has taken the field in a 3-5-2 alignment. The following players took the field: Cerino - Ernstsen, Warnow, Nolze - Bellagotti, Bizzozero, Berkers, Búzás, Bach - Chauvet, Rigolli.

Hidalgo's game plan was to sit back and absorb the pressure, then use their world class ability to break on the counter whenever possible. For their match strategy, Manganielli had decided to use their solid ability to counter-attack whenever possible. Maybe R. Warnow should join the aquatics team instead. He went down dramatically after 13 minutes, crying out with agony as he fell. The referee was not impressed, though, and showed him a yellow for diving. Halftime score was 0 - 0. Manganielli were doing a good job holding on to the ball, with 51 percent of possession.

The guests almost went up by a goal with 49 minutes elapsed when P. Chauvet came through from the right. The shot bounced harmlessly off the post, though. Hidalgo's D. Chiarelli was shown a yellow card after 59 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Manganielli were forced into a substitution as N. Bellagotti couldn't continue playing due to some rough treatment, so D. Casano had to come in from the bench. Some great play up the middle by Hidalgo led to a chance for H. Hajizadeh to get the go-ahead goal with 76 minutes played, but the shot hit the crossbar. A counter-attack by Hidalgo after 86 minutes could have resulted in a goal, but B. Torcque, coming in on the left, waited too long to shoot. Big paper red cards were being held up by the opposing supporters with 88 minutes on the clock after I. Grison's mistimed tackle from behind. The referee only showed the Hidalgo player a yellow card though. With 89 minutes gone, G. Bortolato suddenly found himself completely free on the right wing when a counter-attack by Hidalgo caught their opponents by surprise. Only a great save by the opposing keeper prevented him from scoring. Many thought P. Habermeyer ought to have been awarded a penalty 89 minutes into the match, as he went down trying to beat J. Cerino after an attack through the middle gave him the one-on-one opportunity. Manganielli set the tempo, maintaining 52 percent of possession.

Hidalgo's top performer was clearly D. Chiarelli. Speaking of stinking up the place, S. Tzalik sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham. Most important Manganielli player was P. Chauvet. Good thing J. Cerino isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance. The match ends 0 - 0.
