Heroes 8 - 0 Lācis (366448185)

7614 spectators had come to Grand Hall of Heroes this cloudy day. Emmanuel Dessa was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Maciej Kowal and Lars-Erik Sunesson. Heroes started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. They fielded: Sobczyński - Markov, Sapega, Seglenieks - Grebenozhko, Dobulāns, Ķimenis-Ķimelis, Georgiev, Lopash - Nazarenko, Reschl.

A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Lācis. The following players took the field: Tsedryk - Jēkabsons, Didriksons, Vilšķērsts, Melbārzdis - Kurts, Vihmanis, Eglītis, Loks - Gauks, Dzenis.

Heroes took the lead 22 minutes into the game by 1 - 0, as I. Nazarenko elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 33 minutes, Heroes did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker, I. Nazarenko was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 2 - 0. Heroes increased the lead as R. Seglenieks struck to make the score 3 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Heroes lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. After 38 minutes, V. Ķimenis-Ķimelis put Heroes ahead 4 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. The teams went for the halftime break at 4 - 0. Heroes claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 60 percent.

Cheers filled the stadium as G. Reschl broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 5 - 0 to Heroes. Almost all the way down to the corner flag, Heroes's D. Grebenozhko somehow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for I. Nazarenko, who struck for 6 - 0. By then I. Nazarenko had scored three goals - a hat trick! Things were going to get worse for the visitors. A. Lopash squirmed through their central defence after 71 minutes, increasing the lead to 7 - 0. The corner kick from R. Seglenieks was powerfully met by the head of G. Georgiev to make the score 8 - 0. The referee showed Heroes's G. Reschl the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Heroes had most of the ball, with 64 percent of possession.

Heroes's best player was V. Ķimenis-Ķimelis. However, T. Sobczyński made a disastrous appearance. I. Vihmanis performed admirably for Lācis. I. Didriksons on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 8 - 0.
