7279 punters turned up at
A. Schwarzenegger, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Daniel Dodebier was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Hazem Sharpe and
Arno Fuchs.
Riolta had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
The following players took the field: Berardo - Ghilardi, Rubelli, Vitalini, Mussa - Schaef, Braga, Lardo, Cerulli - Spolitu, Poletto.
football started off with a 4-4-2 lineup.
They fielded: Lapi - Congestrì, Rossato, Travaglio, Puliga - Zanchetta, Goina, Pezzano, Labella - Arcioni, Di Sciorio.
Some good play on the left wing created an opportunity for the visitors 33 minutes into the match, and
M. Di Sciorio wasn't about to let it go by. He got past the defenders and fired a shot that the keeper just missed. 0 - 1 for the visitors.
Riolta tried to even things up by sending a long ball towards the centrally placed strikers, but the visitors' defence got the best of this rather direct style of play.
I. Goina increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 2.
After 44 minutes
M. Spolitu could have reduced the lead with a blistering strike from the left wing, had it not been for an excellent block by the visitors' keeper.
0 - 2 was the halftime score.
Possession in this half belonged to Riolta, who controlled the ball 53 percent of the time.
The crowd groaned when
M. Mussa, having maneuvered his way down the right, fired the ball just wide and missed a great opportunity to reduce the deficit for Riolta.
After 69 minutes, football were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise.
M. Di Sciorio did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans.
I. Pezzano behaved like an inexperienced youth player after 77 minutes as he gave the ball away to
E. Braga. Lucky for him though, there was no goal.
With 79 minutes having been played, his teammates looked on in disbelief as
G. Vitalini thoughtlessly misplayed the ball, setting up football's
F. Zanchetta for an easy goal. 0 - 3.
A drive down the left side allowed
M. Di Sciorio to get in close and score another goal for football after 82 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 4.
Confident in their lead, football's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
With a penalty awarded after 83 minutes, Riolta's
L. Ghilardi placed the ball low and to the keeper's right, impossible to block. 1 - 4.
Riolta enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.
Riolta's top performer was clearly
S. Schaef.
G. Berardo on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The most dominating football player was without a doubt
E. Arcioni.
V. Rossato turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 1 - 4.
