previous 3/5 next 5/5  Sette-Nani 0 - 2 Basaluzzese (366730986)

The crowd of 1833 turning up at Sette-Nani Arena today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain. Johny Knipping was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Enric Humeres and Mischa Edlinger-Zecher. Sette-Nani tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. They fielded: Maddii - Tommei, Bastreghi, Liberatore, Miolato - De Fusco, Criaco, Parlati, Taddia - Matticchio, Zogjani.

A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Basaluzzese. The following players had been chosen: Pulik - Giannotti, Sozzi, Cusumano, Caruso - Malagola, Baggio, Macinanti, Restelli - Ortu, Fanni.

Basaluzzese's E. Caruso could have put the guests one up after 8 minutes after chasing a through ball from the right, but C. Maddii was as fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose. Making his way up the middle 11 minutes into the match, F. Liberatore almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert B. Pulik blocked it to keep the score level. The counterattacks of Basaluzzese were deadly and 28 minutes into the game, M. Restelli received a nice pass from the right flank, making it 0 - 1. It was a bad day for the usually speedy M. Criaco. The mud seemed to slow him down. After 38 minutes, a well-worked counterattack by Basaluzzese on the right presented an easy opportunity in front of the goal that was duly converted by S. Ortu to make it 0 - 2. Halftime score was 0 - 2. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Sette-Nani, with 51 percent of the ball.

R. Macinanti was, after 75 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper C. Maddii made the save. The referee showed Basaluzzese's A. Sozzi the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Due to a severely mistimed tackle, G. Taddia of Sette-Nani spent some time on the grass writhing in agony before he could get up and continue the game. O. Matticchio had a hard time on the waterlogged pitch - his trademark technique was nowhere in sight today. Neither team was controlling the possession at this point in the match, with the stats showing a 50:50 split.

A. De Fusco performed admirably for Sette-Nani. However, G. Taddia made a disastrous appearance. Basaluzzese's best player was S. Ortu. B. Pulik turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 0 - 2.
