Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 43633 at
NK Škis Arena today.
Vittorio Guerber was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ron Ellis and
Albano Nieto.
Škis had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
They fielded: Dürrschmidt - Sadio, Tranchand, Bak - Kotro, Delucchi, 項鵬 (Xiangpeng) , Marty, Pronk - Herre, Gleyze.
Pantoffeltierchen decided to use a 4-5-1 set up.
Lineup: Gazca - Torres Cabrera, Garbsen, Pilegaard, Sassanelli - Grandovec, Dolinar, Bajželj, Maslar, Kulkki - Lazarevič.
Pantoffeltierchen clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could.
Škis broke through on the left 17 minutes into the game, with
S. Bak firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 1 - 0 lead.
After 19 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
G. Gleyze might have resulted in another goal for Škis. However,
F. Gazca made a spectacular save.
Škis put in a good effort on the right, but
S. Herre saw his volley fly wide of the mark 20 minutes into the game.
A really bad tackle inside the penalty area 25 minutes into the match gave the referee no other choice but to award the visiting Pantoffeltierchen a penalty.
J. Torres Cabrera knocked it home. 1 - 1
It was 1 - 1 at the break.
Škis enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 61 percent of possession.
As the 55 minute mark approached, the Škis coach decided it was time for a substitution.
G. Delucchi reluctantly made way for
M. Hacklin on the pitch.
With 56 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 2 - 1 lead as
S. Kotro flipped the ball in after a cross from the right.
The visitors refused to give in and, after 62 minutes,
J. Maslar evened things up as he finished off a perfect pass from the right. 2 - 2
After 63 minutes, the Pantoffeltierchen coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
N. Bajželj off the field.
T. Przybyło took his place.
V. Kulkki's tried to storm through the defence after 79 minutes, but
O. Sadio was just too fast to shake off and the rest of the defence got back to cover.
J. Maslar sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from
J. Torres Cabrera after 83 minutes of play, making the score 2 - 3.
After 83 minutes, the Pantoffeltierchen players received new instructions from their manager on how to keep in control of the game.
In an effort to secure the lead, Pantoffeltierchen changed their tactic after 83 minutes.
With the crowd on their feet chanting wildly, some great moves down the right hand side after 85 minutes gave Škis a wonderful opportunity to level the score, and
G. Gleyze stepped up to the challenge. 3 - 3
Škis fans held their breath as
J. Tranchand scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 4 - 3!
Škis's
A. Marty swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Škis, with 63 percent of the ball.
The most dominating Škis player was without a doubt
G. Gleyze.
A. Dürrschmidt on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Pantoffeltierchen's top performer was clearly
J. Lazarevič.
K. Garbsen was a disappointment, however.
