Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 56928 to
largie's room.
Moritz Constantin was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Leszek Kiermasz and
Ivan Božič.
Smart tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
They fielded: Da Costa - Peterin, Srnak, Van den Bergh - Landwald, Dobrnjac, Kaňák, Goršak, Caf - Smerdelj, Avguštinčič.
Pantoffeltierchen decided to use a 4-5-1 set up.
Starters: Gazca - Sassanelli, Garbsen, Torres Cabrera, Ćirić - Grandovec, Dolinar, Przybyło, Maslar, Kulkki - Lazarevič.
For their match strategy, Pantoffeltierchen had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible.
Given a free kick close to the byline, Smart tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let
Z. Dobrnjac slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 1 - 0, 21 minutes into the game.
Č. Kaňák should probably have put his team up another goal after 30 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
F. Gazca kept the visitors in the game.
Smart's
N. Van den Bergh saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 36 minutes.
39 minutes in, Smart's
V. Avguštinčič received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
After 42 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
S. Smerdelj might have resulted in another goal for Smart. However,
F. Gazca made a spectacular save.
After 43 minutes,
V. Avguštinčič sent the corner kick right to
H. Caf who headed it sharply past the keeper. 2 - 0!
2 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Smart, with 60 percent of the ball.
V. Srnak could have put Smart up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 49 minutes.
50 minutes into the game,
J. Lazarevič finished off a Pantoffeltierchen left wing counterattack, making the score 2 - 1.
J. Lazarevič made a good effort at breaking through on the right, but the home team's left defence cleared the ball to a corner.
The home side's
V. Avguštinčič curled a free kick home after 65 minutes, putting Smart ahead 3 - 1.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Smart's
H. Caf increasing the lead to 4 - 1.
Z. Dobrnjac could have increased the lead after 77 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
Z. Dobrnjac from Smart a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 78 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Pantoffeltierchen were forced into a substitution as
M. Sassanelli couldn't continue due to some rough treatment, forcing
S. Pilegaard to come in off the bench.
The visitors' right side was dangerous today;
J. Dolinar made the home team's keeper look foolish as he easily reduced the lead to make it 4 - 2 80 minutes into the match.
Pantoffeltierchen's
J. Dolinar got himself booked for a foul.
Smart enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 61 percent of possession.
The most dominating Smart player was without a doubt
S. Smerdelj.
However,
H. Caf made a disastrous appearance.
Pantoffeltierchen's best player was
J. Lazarevič.
K. Garbsen was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 4 - 2.
