The crowd of 45440 turning up at
Smakci C.F. Arena today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain.
Dorus Clephas was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Paco Bombín and
Neven Zagorac.
Smakci decided to use a 4-5-1 set up.
The following players had been chosen: 若朋 (Ruopeng) - Navinšek, Peterlič, Gligorjević, Ograjenšek - Szczutkowski, Conrad, Corabœuf, Lefort, Karbowniczek - Bråthen.
Gennaro had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
The following players took the field: Espasens - Issa, Schaafsma, Heespen - Degenaars, De Greyt, Elstrøm, Markwardt, Pisarczyk - Descheiver, Perš.
A. Markwardt, who often relies on his speed, had a rotten day on the drenched grass.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
K. Conrad from Smakci a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 17 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
M. Issa was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so Gennaro's
E. Kumasin had to come off the bench.
Smakci caught their opponents out with a clever counterattack down the right wing 27 minutes into the match.
W. Bråthen was able to finish off the move - 1 - 0.
Smakci managed to extend their lead to 2 - 0 when
J. Gligorjević cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
The boggy pitch disrupted the game, especially for technical players like
A. Peterlič.
The game was characterised by rough play and many physical challenges on the wet field, but
W. Bråthen showed great heart and had a good game.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
K. Karbowniczek got himself booked. The manager of Smakci was not happy.
A. Peterlič behaved like an inexperienced youth player after 41 minutes as he gave the ball away to
M. Perš. Lucky for him though, there was no goal.
The home team's fans were upset when, after 42 minutes, the visiting
M. Elstrøm broke through the central defence and kicked the ball past the keeper. 2 - 1 was the score.
The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 1.
Possession in this half belonged to Gennaro, who controlled the ball 55 percent of the time.
After 75 minutes,
K. Karbowniczek put Smakci ahead 3 - 1 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing.
Gennaro claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 57 percent.
The most dominating Smakci player was without a doubt
W. Bråthen.
K. Karbowniczek turned in a dismal performance, however.
Gennaro's top performer was clearly
A. Markwardt.
M. Perš was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 3 - 1.
