40020 spectators had found their way to
GRUMSON Arena, despite the heavy rain.
Walter Hildebrand was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Raúl Blanco and
Baltazar Rożen.
Everyone was excited about the upcoming
Ljubljana derby and the crowd was divided evenly.
A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for GRUMALDI.
The following players took the field: dos Reis - Stengård, Urbansson, Brazof, Campanati - Snijder, Lindhby, Tansık, Yeznigyan - Lea, Siracusa.
niz had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
Starters: Orkaš - Macoh, Križaj, Pezder, Prelec - Selan, Palčič, Redenšek, Medved - Lešnjik, Krstić.
GRUMALDI seemed to prefer attacking in the middle.
niz's
O. Lešnjik showed off his trademark ability to do the unexpected with a tricky pass after 6 minutes. Unfortunately,
D. Krstić was startled by the play and wasn't able to control the finish.
O. Lea caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 17 minutes. This gave GRUMALDI the 1 - 0 lead.
niz had to make a substitution after 24 minutes.
D. Krstić limped off the field and was replaced by
M. Repnik.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as GRUMALDI scored another to make it 2 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
D. Yeznigyan after 25 minutes.
A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of GRUMALDI to 3 - 0 as
J. Snijder finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle.
The players of GRUMALDI now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
With 30 minutes played, GRUMALDI put themselves up 4 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
D. Siracusa, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home.
4 - 0 was the halftime score.
GRUMALDI claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 83 percent.
GRUMALDI had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks.
53 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
N. Brazof broke through, making the score 5 - 0 for GRUMALDI.
Cheers filled the stadium as
O. Lea broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 6 - 0 to GRUMALDI.
The score became 7 - 0 at 70 minutes into the game, when GRUMALDI were given a penalty which
A. Lindhby blasted straight down the middle giving the keeper no chance!
GRUMALDI increased the lead as
G. Campanati struck to make the score 8 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
B. Rahmbrant was called on to replace GRUMALDI's
G. Campanati after 81 minutes following a nasty collision.
GRUMALDI managed to extend their lead to 9 - 0 when
H. Tansık cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by GRUMALDI, with 87 percent of the ball.
Most important GRUMALDI player was
D. Siracusa.
B. Rahmbrant was a disappointment, however.
The most dominating niz player was without a doubt
M. Repnik.
P. Orkaš on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 9 - 0.
