(367268054)

25-02-2012 13.45
Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 53190 to
Mickey Mouse Club.
Killian Luckert was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Justino Lobo and
Janne Nesström.
Popišanci started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
Lineup: Granić - Danguso, Vláčil, Biteye - Eckdahl, Dehesa, Escobal, Strencis, Agnelli - Borgemoen, Mathisen.
Miholjac decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
The following players had been chosen: Viotti - Cucurullo, Hansen, Alzina - Verellen, Stockmans, Vandendaele, Jarni, Saksio - Grönstad, Bikkel.
Popišanci made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left
S. Mathisen completely alone with keeper
W. Viotti, who made a spectacular block.
The corner kick from
B. Vláčil was powerfully met by the head of
J. Escobal to make the score 1 - 0.
R. Danguso had a fantastic opportunity to put Popišanci up another goal 31 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar.
After 35 minutes, Popišanci were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise.
S. Mathisen did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans.
The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 0.
Popišanci had most of the ball, with 51 percent of possession.
Popišanci put in a good effort on the right, but
C. Dehesa saw his volley fly wide of the mark 56 minutes into the game.
Given a free kick close to the byline, Popišanci tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let
I. Borgemoen slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 2 - 0, 68 minutes into the game.
After 75 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
I. Borgemoen might have resulted in another goal for Popišanci. However,
W. Viotti made a spectacular save.
Given a free kick in a difficult position after 84 minutes, Miholjac tried a variation that they had practised in training. The kick was sent into the area just in front of the keeper. However, the defence were on their toes and allowed no space for a finish.
A lovely run by Popišanci's
P. Agnelli left his markers for dead and should have resulted in a goal, but the finish went just wide.
The crowd roared its approval when
M. Granić somehow managed to block a shot which seemed to be a certain goal by Miholjac's
B. Jarni 86 minutes into the game.
This part of the game was a standoff between the teams in terms of possession.
Popišanci's top performer was clearly
M. Granić.
T. Eckdahl on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Most important Miholjac player was
M. Bikkel.
J. Alzina was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 2 - 0.
