33550 spectators had come to Maruxiños Arena this cloudy day. Jaime Cascais was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Pontus Gröönbom and Lennart Koelewijn. Cry "havoc" and let loose the dogs of war! Maruxiños will go to battle in a 3-5-2 formation. Lineup: Gráf - Eriks, Corsi, Penner - Pittaluga, Forster, Ballart, Bartelds, Buge - Weenink, Noriega.

Gentlemen prefer blondes and PRIORO prefers a 4-5-1. Let's see how this plays out for them. Starters: Monterrubio - Lisei, Vinyes, Vilarnau, Moelijn - Sevila, Méndez Ortiz, Díaz de Abadillo, Ovejero, Turković - Báez.

For their match strategy, PRIORO had decided to use their world class ability to counter-attack whenever possible. Some great play up the middle by Maruxiños led to a chance for P. Ballart to get the go-ahead goal with 8 minutes played, but the shot hit the crossbar. After 21 minutes PRIORO tried to use their counter-attacking skills. Unfortunately, I. Báez's shot sailed wide after his break down the right. Many thought P. Weenink ought to have been awarded a penalty 25 minutes into the match, as he went down trying to beat D. Monterrubio after an attack through the middle gave him the one-on-one opportunity. Almost all the way down at the corner flag, Maruxiños's P. Pittaluga somehow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for P. Weenink, who scored for 1 - 0. Maruxiños's P. Weenink swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defense were able to clear the ball. The counter-attacks of PRIORO were deadly and 31 minutes into the game, I. Báez controlled a long pass from the right flank and finished to make it 1 - 1. Halftime score was 1 - 1. The Count appeared on the jumbotron and announced that Maruxiños had 57...57 percent possession. AH AH AH!

A swat on the tuchus is all it took to keep Maruxiños's S. Bartelds in the match after injuring his achilles tendon. The ball is in play and we're underway again after 52 minutes have been played. 54 minutes into the game, Maruxiños wanted to bring some new energy to their game. H. Buge gave C. Stockerl a quick hug as he left the field. With the clock showing 65 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board. G. Corsi looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for I. Petrunenko, though he would have liked to continue. The visitors' central defense should have had no trouble clearing the pass to P. Ballart, but the Maruxiños player managed to shrug them off and fire a low shot that 5-holed the keeper to give his team the lead. 2 - 1! With 85 minutes played, Maruxiños's I. Petrunenko pulled up limping after a savage, cowardly challenge. But he's not yet ready to shuffle off this mortal coil. He's staying in to play on. The valiant never taste of death but once! The visitors wouldn't quit and after 86 minutes, I. Báez evened things up as he finished off a perfect pass from the right. 2 - 2. As the 88 minute mark approached, the Maruxiños manager decided it was time for a substitution. P. Weenink reluctantly made way for L. Veres. The referee showed PRIORO's A. Méndez Ortiz the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. P. Ballart gave Maruxiños the 3 - 2 lead, as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then placed the ball at the keeper's right post – what a clinical finish! Maruxiños were doing a good job holding on to the ball, with 54 percent of possession.

The most outstanding Maruxiños player was without a doubt E. Noriega. I can't remember L. Veres ever having a worse night than he just had. PRIORO's best player was A. Méndez Ortiz. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because S. Lisei seemed to stumble all over the pitch. The match ends 3 - 2.
