33550 spectators had come to Maruxiños Arena this cloudy day. Jaime Cascais was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Pontus Gröönbom and Lennart Koelewijn. Maruxiños had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Lineup: Gráf - Eriks, Corsi, Penner - Pittaluga, Forster, Ballart, Bartelds, Buge - Weenink, Noriega.

A 4-5-1 alignment was the formation of choice for PRIORO. Starters: Monterrubio - Lisei, Vinyes, Vilarnau, Moelijn - Sevila, Méndez Ortiz, Díaz de Abadillo, Ovejero, Turković - Báez.

For their match strategy, PRIORO had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible. Some great play up the middle by Maruxiños led to a chance for P. Ballart to score after 8 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar. After 21 minutes PRIORO tried to exploit their counterattacking skills, unfortunately, I. Báez's shot sailed wide after his break down the right. Many thought P. Weenink ought to have been awarded a penalty 25 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around D. Monterrubio after a determined run through the middle. Almost all the way down to the corner flag, Maruxiños's P. Pittaluga somehow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for P. Weenink, who struck for 1 - 0. Maruxiños's P. Weenink swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball. The counterattacks of PRIORO were deadly and 31 minutes into the game, I. Báez received a nice pass from the right flank, making it 1 - 1. Halftime score was 1 - 1. Maruxiños claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 57 percent.

Maruxiños's S. Bartelds refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 52 minutes. 54 minutes into the game, Maruxiños wanted to bring some new energy to their game. H. Buge gave C. Stockerl a quick hug as he left the field. G. Corsi would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. I. Petrunenko entered the game for Maruxiños as the match clock showed 65 minutes. The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to P. Ballart, but the Maruxiños player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 2 - 1! After 85 minutes Maruxiños's I. Petrunenko limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue. The visitors refused to give in and, after 86 minutes, I. Báez evened things up as he finished off a perfect pass from the right. 2 - 2 As the 88 minute mark approached, the Maruxiños coach decided it was time for a substitution. P. Weenink reluctantly made way for L. Veres on the pitch. The referee showed PRIORO's A. Méndez Ortiz the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. P. Ballart gave Maruxiños the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 3 - 2 Maruxiños had most of the ball, with 54 percent of possession.

The most dominating Maruxiños player was without a doubt E. Noriega. On the other hand, L. Veres's play was disheartening. PRIORO's best player was A. Méndez Ortiz. S. Lisei turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 3 - 2.
