Clear skies welcomed the 32566 spectators who had made their way to
Coliseum Miguel Cousau.
Roberto Madureira was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Per Bredal Nielsen and
Olly Krijnen.
Football started off with a 4-5-1 lineup.
Starters: Ludvigsen - Hietala, Shalom, Zaborowski, Maravilla - Unseld, Vana, Infanzón, Crivelli, Mendes - Alvertis.
Garnata had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
They fielded: Ceballos - Martínez, Vázquez, Jado, Vitorica - Ederra, Ródenas, Caión, Pagoto - Valero Giménez, Paleologos.
Garnata clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could.
Garnata were pushed back, and had many dangerous counterattacks. An impressive one came 12 minutes into the match, but
J. Pagoto narrowly missed the free kick attempt that was awarded as a result of a foul.
Garnata's
D. Martínez left the field after 23 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
X. Gassió.
In a rapid move 36 minutes into the match,
R. Paleologos of Garnata lost his man and passed the ball to the unmarked
R. Valero Giménez who easily hit it home to make it 0 - 1. Luckily the ref didn't see him taunting the opposing fans in celebration - naughty boy!
0 - 1 was the score after the first half.
Possession in this half belonged to Football, who controlled the ball 67 percent of the time.
In the lead, Garnata adjusted their style of play with 60 minutes gone.
After a short break after 60 minutes, Garnata seemed to change their tactical approach a bit.
In an effort to secure the lead, Garnata changed their tactic after 60 minutes.
With things not going too well on the field, the Football coach made the decision to swap the positions of
S. Alvertis and
A. Vana with 65 minutes played.
The bench was restless, and with 65 minutes passed Football's coach gave
J. Paris the opportunity the player had been hoping for.
S. Alvertis reluctantly left the field.

The goal to make it 0 - 2 was scored by
A. Vázquez after 69 minutes, following an opportunistic counterattack down the middle by Garnata.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of Garnata lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
After 72 minutes, the defensive line of Garnata created a counterattack through the middle that gave
F. Vitorica a good look at the goal, but his shot glanced harmlessly off the crossbar.
L. Hietala of Football seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 1 - 2 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by
R. Unseld.
Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Football's
R. Unseld was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 89 minutes.
R. Olazábal Solís was given a chance to change things around.
Football enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 69 percent of possession.
D. Infanzón performed admirably for Football.
On the other hand,
R. Olazábal Solís's play was disheartening.
Garnata's top performer was clearly
R. Paleologos.
However,
X. Gassió made a disastrous appearance.
