26-05-2012 14.00
41075 spectators had come to
Sir Nigel Loring this cloudy day.
Luca Furlan was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Guido Lochak and
José Capelas.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for DUKEOFEARL.
They fielded: Steinmetz - Feuersee, Alba, Beorburu - Choklati, Albiol, Jávega, Miro, Moleiro - Urquijo, Bilyk.
Camps decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
Lineup: van Creveld - Real, Łasica, Roche - Pardell, Alventosa, Baudoin, Vallverdú, Pürenvar - Sandoval, Mcdowell.
The referee signaled a penalty for the home side after 7 minutes, amid vocal protests from the visitors. DUKEOFEARL fans erupted in celebration as
T. Bilyk rifled the ball into the the top corner. 1 - 0!
R. Feuersee should probably have put his team up another goal after 31 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
T. van Creveld kept the visitors in the game.
DUKEOFEARL's
S. Albiol was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 40 minutes.
H. Choklati of DUKEOFEARL was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
The referee showed DUKEOFEARL's
T. Bilyk the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
1 - 0 was the halftime score.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by DUKEOFEARL, with 67 percent of the ball.
With 48 minutes gone,
S. Pürenvar suddenly found himself completely free on the right wing when a counterattack by Camps caught their opponents by surprise. Only a great save by the opposing keeper prevented him from scoring.
With 58 minutes played, DUKEOFEARL's
F. Jávega almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net.
Given a free kick close to the byline, Camps tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let
D. Mcdowell slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 1 - 1, 68 minutes into the game.
81 minutes had elapsed when a great chance for DUKEOFEARL to take the lead after a good cross from the right found
S. Urquijo alone with the keeper, but he chipped it to the wrong side of the post.
The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to
S. Urquijo, but the DUKEOFEARL player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 2 - 1!
DUKEOFEARL claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 67 percent.
Most important DUKEOFEARL player was
S. Albiol.
However,
G. Beorburu made a disastrous appearance.
The most dominating Camps player was without a doubt
T. Baudoin.
D. Sandoval was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 2 - 1.
