26-05-2012 14.00
A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 25430 to
Mestalla.
Paul Manter was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Jacques-André Ritter and
René Büttner.
VCF ADISMA decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
Starters: Valcarce - Bujia, Vilarnau, Baamorto - Villarroel, Pizarro, Arabasz, van der Graft, Olaguer - Roelas, Lagos Mellado.
Atletico started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
Lineup: Díaz - Aladal, Gundersen, Carolina - de Valdeorras, Berends, Rivero Pastor, Pons, Vuelvetoros - Sá, Vilanó.
After 4 minutes, VCF ADISMA sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached
A. Arabasz, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 1 - 0.
VCF ADISMA's
A. Arabasz increased the lead to 2 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 18 minutes.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of VCF ADISMA lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
The referee showed VCF ADISMA's
H. Pizarro the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
Ó. Lagos Mellado sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from
R. Roelas after 27 minutes of play, making the score 3 - 0.
With 32 minutes played,
Ó. Lagos Mellado could have brought this one home for VCF ADISMA as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high.
3 - 0 was the halftime score.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by VCF ADISMA, with 56 percent of the ball.
As usual,
T. Aladal tried to use his strength and hard work for the benefit of the team, but the heat hit him hard and he couldn't keep pace at all.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
H. Pizarro squirmed through their central defence after 59 minutes, increasing the lead to 4 - 0.
R. Roelas increased the lead for VCF ADISMA to 5 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it!
With 70 minutes played, the Atletico coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around.
C. Manyoses came on,
R. Vuelvetoros had to leave the fray.
With 72 minutes played,
J. Rivero Pastor of Atletico fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
R. Pons's lack of experience almost gave VCF ADISMA a goal after 78 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms.
Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 80 minutes, VCF ADISMA did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker,
Ó. Lagos Mellado was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 6 - 0.
VCF ADISMA had most of the ball, with 55 percent of possession.
Ó. Lagos Mellado performed admirably for VCF ADISMA.
E. Olaguer was a disappointment, however.
The most dominating Atletico player was without a doubt
J. Rivero Pastor.
On the other hand,
T. Aladal's play was disheartening.
The match ends 6 - 0.
