03-03-2012 15.00
The 26554 spectators at
Averno were in for an afternoon of sunshine.
范 (Fan) 廷匀 (Tingyun) was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Lancelot D'Hellem and
Per Hörmo.
A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Malditos.
The following players had been chosen: Alblas - Kanazir, De Stefano, Benayoun, Ransford - Entenza, Muñoz, Sadokierski, Jakubowski - Botarelli, Houseman.
U.B.H decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
Lineup: Huenumán - Eriksson, Coronado, Boonkum - Ratajczyk, Portabales, Sagmajster, Put, Rozen - Pádár, Piikki.
The strategy for U.B.H was to use their ability to press.
U.B.H took the lead 11 minutes into the game, making the score 0 - 1 after some elegant movement down the middle.
A. Piikki was the scorer.
Malditos's
X. Entenza almost tied things up with 12 minutes played after breaking through on the right, but his shot deflected off the post.
15 minutes into the match, Malditos's
R. Muñoz maneuvered his way around the opposition on the left flank, delighting the crowd with his twists and turns. The effort paid off as the ball found the back of the net, evening the score at 1 - 1.
It was 1 - 1 at the break.
Malditos had most of the ball, with 53 percent of possession.
The visitors grabbed the lead after
J. Portabales's free kick succeeded, resulting in a score of 1 - 2.
U.B.H's talent at pressing frustrated the spectators as the game became a dire midfield struggle.
Some fine passing in the middle of the pitch, carving open the away defence, should have led to a goal for Malditos, but
R. Kanazir's shot went over the bar.
The crowd was on its feet 67 minutes into the match, as Malditos's
R. Kanazir found himself unmarked in front of the goal after a dash up the left side. He calmly put away the 2 - 2 equaliser.
The sunny day didn't make things easy for
O. Jakubowski who didn't seem his usual powerful self on the pitch.
75 minutes into the game, U.B.H wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
B. Sagmajster gave
J. Nieva a quick hug as he left the field.
75 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a U.B.H substitution.
K. Kuutschin came on for
F. Pádár.
Malditos's
X. Entenza had seen it all before, so he waited patiently for the right opportunity. He would get no better chance than the one he took, but his shot was deftly blocked by the keeper.
Malditos's
R. Muñoz lived up to his reputation for finding unexpected ways to get the ball in the net when he sent a nifty little pass over to
P. Houseman who finished for 3 - 2 with 79 minutes of the match played.
Malditos's
J. Sadokierski got himself booked for a foul.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as Malditos scored another to make it 4 - 2 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
R. Kanazir after 82 minutes.
Malditos's
S. De Stefano refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 83 minutes.
Malditos enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 53 percent of possession.
The most dominating Malditos player was without a doubt
P. Houseman.
On the other hand,
R. Alblas's play was disheartening.
A. Piikki performed admirably for U.B.H.
R. Huenumán turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 4 - 2.
