Kalamuri 4 - 2 rockstars (367540051)

The crowd of 16421 turning up at Kalamuri Arena today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain. Arnaldo Liberona was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Boris Eisenberger and Emiliano Escheimber. Kalamuri started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players took the field: Landi - Sáenz García, Rada, Francoli - Sztuba, Juzėnas, Chaikham, Jorderas, Pietrucci - Papadopolos, Tenden.

A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for rockstars. Starters: Davì - der Kinderen, Owais, Davaine, Selvig - La Porta, Alexandersson, Şerbănescu, Virco - Bouman, Bousi.

Kalamuri tried to focus their attacks down the middle. rockstars were relying on their ability to counter-attack. M. Şerbănescu was struggling to make the ball dance with his usual trickery and panache, and the opposing players had little trouble shutting him down in these muddy conditions. N. Chaikham was very close to giving Kalamuri the lead with an ingenious free kick routine 22 minutes into the match, but the ball just grazed the bar. S. Alexandersson finished off the counterattack of rockstars from the left rather easily, making the score 0 - 1. I. Landi got a fingertip on D. Bouman's shot from the left 29 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal. Kalamuri were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally. After 37 minutes, M. Tenden made a dash down the middle past the away team's defenders to score the goal that made it 1 - 1. The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when D. La Porta was unable to put the ball in the net after his show of skill down the left 39 minutes into the match. He was seen beating the pitch in frustration at missing such a good chance to give his team the lead! Z. Sztuba did not have a good day today, often losing his footing on the muddy pitch. Kalamuri made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left H. Papadopolos completely alone with keeper A. Davì, who made a spectacular block. Halftime score was 1 - 1. Kalamuri claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 66 percent.

50 minutes into the game, a swerving free kick by N. Chaikham almost resulted in the home team taking the lead, but the shot glanced harmlessly off the frame of the goal. Z. Sztuba gave Kalamuri the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 2 - 1 Thighs bulging, L. Bousi charged past the weaker players, seemingly oblivious to the rain. The Kalamuri players could smell victory in the air. M. Tenden wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for C. Zugasti after 69 minutes. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Kalamuri coach let R. Delgado replace N. Chaikham after 76 minutes. As the captain was no longer on the pitch, P. Francoli took over the role of being the Kalamuri captain. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. V. Sáenz García squirmed through their central defence after 79 minutes, increasing the lead to 3 - 1. Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 80 minutes, rockstars did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker, D. Bouman was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 3 - 2. After 81 minutes, E. Pietrucci put Kalamuri ahead 4 - 2 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. By now, the players in Kalamuri felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. Kalamuri enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 64 percent of possession.

The most dominating Kalamuri player was without a doubt H. Papadopolos. V. Sáenz García on the other hand, had a terrible day. rockstars's top performer was clearly L. Bousi. M. Şerbănescu turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 4 - 2.
