Ramirez 1 - 0 TrinitatVella
(367554842)

12-05-2012 15.15
It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 25391 that came out to
Ramirez Stadium.
Jesús 'Pescador' Larra was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Denis Dautricourt and
Collins van Heerde.
Ramirez tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
They fielded: Orrit - Apostolov, Verwerft, Bartelen - Florea, Kounntouris, Alba, Rousseau, Manner - Sáez Oliván, Fontanellas.
TrinitatVella had chosen a strategic 5-4-1 formation.
The following players took the field: Banay - Gebler, Girod, Kelemen, Zhilenko, García de Luján - Hauenschild, Rigotti, Jančiukas, Garibay - Slavo.
Ramirez took a creative approach on the field.
TrinitatVella were relying on their ability to counter-attack.
After 15 minutes, following yet another great corner,
V. Kounntouris's flick on at the near post reached
A. Rousseau, who was just wide with his snapshot - the ball went out for a goal kick.
Some great play up the middle by Ramirez led to a chance for
P. Fontanellas to score after 23 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar.
TrinitatVella's
M. Slavo could have put the guests one up after 38 minutes after chasing a through ball from the right, but
G. Orrit was as fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
V. Kounntouris from Ramirez a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 38 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
TrinitatVella's counterattacks created a good chance for
S. Girod on the right after 44 minutes, but he could only look on with dismay as his strike rebounded off the crossbar.
There was concern in the stands when, at the 44 minute mark, Ramirez's
T. Manner hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch.
It was 0 - 0 at the break.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Ramirez, with 61 percent of the ball.
M. Hauenschild would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
J. Pistemaa entered the game for TrinitatVella as the match clock showed 65 minutes.
As the 70 minute mark approached, the TrinitatVella coach decided it was time for a substitution.
M. Slavo reluctantly made way for
A. Stahl-Eller on the pitch.
The referee showed TrinitatVella's
F. Rigotti the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
A loud groan was heard from the fans of Ramirez, as
V. Sáez Oliván left the pitch in too much pain to finish the match.
Á. Coazo took his place on the field.
T. Manner's speed was clear to see after 86 minutes, as he darted down the wing and released
P. Fontanellas who placed the ball into the back of the net to make the score 1 - 0.
The sunny day didn't make things easy for
Á. Coazo who didn't seem his usual powerful self on the pitch.
Ramirez's
N. Florea was shown a yellow card after 89 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
The player down was
F. Rigotti. The TrinitatVella bench looked worried for a while, but in the end he managed to get up.
Ramirez claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 55 percent.
Ramirez's best player was
V. Kounntouris.
A. Alba was a disappointment, however.
TrinitatVella's top performer was clearly
P. García de Luján.
However,
M. Zhilenko made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 1 - 0.
