Logroño 0 - 11 Ancares

The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 5947 had shown up at Toumba Stadium de Logroño for the match. Costel Deleanu was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Torben Mangold and Kent Yngvesson. Cry "havoc" and let loose the dogs of war! Logroño will go to battle in a 4-4-2 formation. They fielded: Calatayud - Ayora, Ianoşev, Garitano, Iñigo - Suso, Olaña, Silveira, Ordóñez - Cervati, Frías.

After thorough analysis and consultation of astrological charts, Ancares decided to go with a 2-5-3 formation. Starters: Handbuechler - Coaña, Sevald - Lasoń, Vrtikapa, Dubbeling, Junqueira, Madini - Lizaran, Poelman, Aspenner.

Though it was beautiful soccer, the home crowd did not enjoy S. Junqueira's goal after a run down the left with 8 minutes on the clock. Ancares lead, 0 - 1. After 9 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defense allowed F. Poelman to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 2. After this, you could see that Ancares's players were mostly interested in killing time and holding on to their lead. R. Coaña increased the visitors' lead by volleying in a pass from the right. 0 - 3. Ancares's A. Madini received a ball slotted perfectly through the home side's central defense after 18 minutes, and chipped it past the helpless keeper to increase the lead to 0 - 4. The away fans won't regret traveling for this one! After 26 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for S. Junqueira who increased Ancares's lead to 0 - 5. After 29 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Ancares found themselves out of position and their organization level dropped to inadequate. 0 - 5 was the halftime score. The Count appeared on the jumbotron and announced that Ancares had 77...77 percent possession. AH AH AH!

Ancares's coach had to raise his voice a little, but he also managed to raise his players' organization to solid after reviewing his strategy. The visitors' A. Aspenner took advantage of a mix-up between the home side's goalie and center backs 52 minutes into the match. 0 - 6 for Ancares. 67 minutes into the game, Ancares seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to passable. 69 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 7 as F. Poelman finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular bicycle kick. What in the world was A. Olaña thinking, the crowd mumbled, as he suddenly tried an insane pass through his own defense – it ended up right in front of Ancares's A. Madini, who easily put the ball in the net for 0 - 8 after 81 minutes. The game had been going for 82 minutes when S. Lasoń broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 9 for Ancares, much to the home crowd's dismay. Big paper red cards were being held up by the opposing supporters with 86 minutes on the clock after E. Iñigo's mistimed tackle from behind. The referee only showed the Logroño player a yellow card though. With 88 minutes played, Ancares put themselves up 0 - 10 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was A. Madini. He'd already scored two, and with the third, A. Madini had a hattrick! A thrilling play through the middle after 89 minutes gave Ancares's A. Aspenner a chance to increase the lead, and he happily obliged. The score was then 0 - 11. Ancares set the tempo, maintaining 82 percent of possession.

The most outstanding Logroño player was without a doubt L. Ianoşev. Good thing A. Olaña isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance. E. Lizaran performed admirably for Ancares. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by J. Handbuechler today. The match ends 0 - 11.
