6578 spectators arrived at
City of Sun, where weather conditions were pretty good for football.
Matías Fiorentino was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Herman Scott and
Köksal Alkýn.
The derby had been the talk of
Galicia all week and fans of both teams could be seen throughout the stadium.
Calabeiro decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
Lineup: Ganaberro - Bouchut, Wäffler, Amorfini - Hebrard, Mendicute, 永恒 (Yongheng), Macario, Csaplár - Svensson, Valenciaga.
Ferrol tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
They fielded: Urraca - Jiménez Levita, El-Alami, Landázuri, Herencia - Yanke, Palomino, Bilbao, Campos - Caudeli, Enasteasu.
Calabeiro saw most attack opportunities on the wings.
Calabeiro fans held their breath as
C. Bouchut scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0!
M. Jiménez Levita came close to levelling the score 4 minutes into the game, as he was set up with a through ball coming in from the left, but his shot hit the post.
9 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
F. Valenciaga broke through, making the score 2 - 0 for Calabeiro.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
C. Bouchut from Calabeiro a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 25 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
The bicycle kick from
M. Hebrard would have been the Goal of the Year for Calabeiro, had it not hit the post.
Calabeiro's
M. Hebrard was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 34 minutes.
Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 41 minutes, Calabeiro did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker,
R. Mendicute was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 3 - 0.
The players of Calabeiro now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
3 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Calabeiro enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 65 percent of possession.
A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area with a goal nearly scored by
R. Campos. At last, Ferrol's
A. Landázuri was able to backheel the ball in. 3 - 1.
The coach of Calabeiro was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 60 minutes,
B. Rojc came on for
M. Csaplár.
R. Mendicute left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 60 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead.
T. Nesher was the replacement.
As the match clock hit 61 minutes, Calabeiro regrouped to try and keep their initiative in the game.
薛. 永恒 (Yongheng) high-fived
B. Rojc as they swapped positions on the team.
After 67 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
A. Amorfini gave the Calabeiro supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 4 - 1.
The Calabeiro players could smell victory in the air.
P. Svensson wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for
M. Mor-Yossef after 70 minutes.
Calabeiro put themselves up 5 - 1 when
C. Bouchut broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake.
Calabeiro increased the lead as
B. Rojc struck to make the score 6 - 1 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
It was obvious that Calabeiro had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle.
After 78 minutes,
M. Wäffler put Calabeiro ahead 7 - 1 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing.
T. Nesher was ever so close to scoring after an excellent corner was beautifully flicked on by
A. Amorfini, but the ball bounced off the post to safety.
Calabeiro had a good opportunity to attack in the middle, but remembered their instructions to focus on wing attacks instead.
T. Nesher increased the lead for Calabeiro to 8 - 1, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it!
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Calabeiro, with 68 percent of the ball.
Calabeiro's top performer was clearly
F. Valenciaga.
M. Wäffler turned in a dismal performance, however.
The most dominating Ferrol player was without a doubt
J. Palomino.
A. Enasteasu was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 8 - 1.
