Bernard 6 - 0 Madrid (367925949)

The crowd of 4358 turning up at Olímpico de Sierra Bermeja today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain. Stephane Schönenberg was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Edward Grasser and Tadeusz Łyżwa. Fans of both teams had been eagerly awaiting this Madrid derby and were doing their best to outshout their opponents. Bernard tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. They fielded: Tirják - Valle Dorado, Ocampo, Mulè - Cózar, Robledillo, Maestre, Bozo, Saavedra - Schultz von Dratzig, Turner.

Madrid had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. Lineup: Escamilla - Pino, Monge, Tudor, Cisneros - Tamanza, Bauzá, Arenas Arnal, Rodríguez Esquivel - Iguzquiza, Benslimane.

After 20 minutes, P. Valle Dorado came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 1 - 0, giving Bernard the lead. Bernard solidified their lead at the 22 minute mark, as P. Valle Dorado dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 2 - 0. I. Bozo fired a shot from distance after 25 minutes, but the long shot couldn't find the net for Bernard. The referee showed Madrid's P. Tudor the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. In a fantastic display of determination, Bernard's H. Schultz von Dratzig forced himself to his feet, after an opponent viciously knocked him down. H. Schultz von Dratzig increased the lead for Bernard to 3 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it! The players of Bernard now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. 3 - 0 was the halftime score. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Bernard, with 76 percent of the ball.

Some things can only be learned through experience, and M. Arenas Arnal should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting Bernard a goal with 47 minutes of the match played. After 52 minutes, H. Schultz von Dratzig put Bernard ahead 4 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. Thighs bulging, R. Monge charged past the weaker players, seemingly oblivious to the rain. With 65 minutes played, F. Tamanza of Madrid fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. Bernard's I. Bozo increased the lead to 5 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 78 minutes. Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 79 minutes, Bernard did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker, J. Maestre was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 6 - 0. Bernard claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 79 percent.

Most important Bernard player was D. Cózar. M. Tirják turned in a dismal performance, however. Madrid's top performer was clearly P. Rodríguez Esquivel. On the other hand, F. Escamilla's play was disheartening. The match ends 6 - 0.
