(367926631)

12-05-2012 14.25
A scorching day at
Kaliseum, where 5737 spectators were in place for today's match.
Tvrtko Kukuljica was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Wolfram Chung and
Pekka Mäntyranta.
Kalise started off with a 3-4-3 lineup.
They fielded: Pârvan - Vidal, Ziganda, Gurguiatu - Cuadrado, Valt, Schytz, Finestre - Capons, Vidal Llorente, Küter.
Juventus had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
Starters: Peñaherrera - Paraschiv, Carboal, Ibañez Aedo, Zurbano - Galbete, Gavarret, Fidalgo, Fernández Niranda - Pablos, Maura.
Kalise showed off their creative tactics.
After 9 minutes, Juventus's
I. Pablos made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1.
After 25 minutes, Juventus's
J. Maura burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 2.
E. Fidalgo increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 3.
Confident in their lead, Juventus's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
Kalise's
L. Küter cut towards the middle after 35 minutes, receiving a brilliant pass and slicing through the visiting team's central defence, reducing the lead to 1 - 3.
The referee showed Juventus's
M. Ibañez Aedo the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
Kalise's
E. Gurguiatu went down after a savage challenge, but could continue playing after some medical attention.
Juventus increased their lead after 39 minutes when
R. Zurbano broke through on the right, upping the score to 1 - 4, much to the home crowd's dismay.
Several players seemed a little dazed by the warm weather, and were repeatedly tricked by the clever and agile
J. Maura.
After 43 minutes, Juventus were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise.
M. Galbete did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans.
1 - 4 was the halftime score.
Juventus claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 58 percent.
After 58 minutes,
H. Schytz had a good opportunity to reduce the scoreline for Kalise with a chance created through the middle, but wasn't cool enough. The ball went miles over the bar.
D. Vidal found it hard to catch his breath today in the stifling heat.
Kalise refused to be intimidated and, breaking through the middle,
G. Vidal Llorente managed to slip the ball home for 2 - 4.
After 67 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
M. Ibañez Aedo who increased Juventus's lead to 2 - 5.
Almost all the way down to the corner flag, Kalise's
P. Cuadrado somehow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for
L. Küter, who struck for 3 - 5.
With 80 minutes played,
R. Zurbano nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar.
Possession in this half belonged to Juventus, who controlled the ball 54 percent of the time.
Kalise's top performer was clearly
A. Capons.
D. Vidal was a disappointment, however.
The most dominating Juventus player was without a doubt
I. Pablos.
However,
X. Carboal made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 3 - 5.
