Clear skies welcomed the 12000 spectators who had made their way to Muhaha. Ioan Albu was the appointed referee. Our studio analysts were correct. Pöttencs has taken the field in a 4-4-2 alignment. Starters: Di Dio - Otermin, Pineda, Engelmann, Judik - Kodolányi, Easter, Hamvas, Gombkötő - Fodor, Leblond.

After thorough analysis and consultation of astrological charts, Dobre decided to go with a 3-5-2 formation. They fielded: Maccioni - Bruno, Meta, Golding - Gobbi, Rezső, Pilsgaard, González, Hogać - Roeder, Zehre.

Dobre seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, using their brilliant ability to great effect. M. Hervoly was called on to replace Pöttencs's E. Kodolányi after 12 minutes following a nasty collision. G. Di Dio looked great 14 minutes in after stopping a shot by the visitors' O. Zehre. This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when F. Roeder slipped through the left defense to come up alone against G. Di Dio, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning-fast reflexes. Pöttencs bypassed the midfield with their counter-attack, leading to a free kick and subsequent goal by G. Pineda for 1 - 0. M. Rezső of Dobre received a yellow card after 40 minutes for unsportsmanlike behavior. Halftime score was 1 - 0. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Dobre, with an impressive 70 percent possession of the ball.

A corner kick created massive confusion in the penalty area, with a near-goal by J. Leblond. At last, Pöttencs's Á. Hamvas was able to will the ball into the net. 2 - 0. The visitors' right side was dangerous today; R. Pilsgaard made the home team's keeper look foolish as he easily scored, reducing the gap to 2 - 1 after 66 minutes. Dobre tied it all up, 69 minutes in, after a spectacular goal by C. Gobbi, who miraculously broke through the home side's central defense, making it 2 - 2. Pöttencs had to make a substitution after 73 minutes. M. Judik apparently was hit by a thrown bottle of Schlitz by one of the opposing players' fans, and now reeks of blood and bad beer. While the coach remonstrated with the side official about the situation, I. Schindler finished his warmups and came on. Given a free kick from an impossible angle, Dobre went for a play that loyal fans may recognize from training. A square ball surprised the defense and let K. Golding slip through at goal. He hit it first time, making the score 2 - 3, 74 minutes into the game. Maybe J. Gombkötő should join the aquatics team instead. He went down dramatically after 77 minutes, crying out with agony as he fell. The referee was not impressed, though, and showed him a yellow for diving. The home fans looked somber as they watched their team give up another goal, this one coming from their right as J. Bruno put one through the keeper's legs. 2 - 4 after 80 minutes. Dobre players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. The ball was in the back of the home team's net yet again after 85 minutes, but this time the referee called the goal back because K. Golding had knocked a member of the opposing team to the ground while the play occurred down the middle of the field. Dobre were doing a good job holding on to the ball, with 66 percent of possession.

B. Easter performed admirably for Pöttencs. I can't remember M. Hervoly ever having a worse night than he just had. The most outstanding Dobre player was without a doubt O. González. Good thing J. Bruno isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance. The match ends 2 - 4.
