The 34571 spectators at Knochenspalter Arena were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Klaas Karrer was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Johan Bäckin and Per Torgård. BB e.V. decided to use a 3-4-3 set up. The following players had been chosen: Tingleff - Eichler, Rübenach, Fürstenrecht - Korpan-Wenzl, Weilhelm, Pieprzyk, Bergtorp - Frietsch, Knechtl, Cepuch.

Garbsen started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players took the field: Ruffat - Boga, Corrigan, Montecchiani - Daime, Wielgus, Coco, Meherg, Hoeness - Fürhacker, Casasola.

Garbsen saw most attack opportunities on the wings. Slack defending gave BB e.V. a chance to take the lead with 4 minutes played, but S. Rübenach's cross from the left flank was fumbled in front of the goal and easily dealt with by the opposition. The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of Garbsen's R. Daime after 5 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 0 - 1 lead. With 12 minutes played, BB e.V.'s P. Cepuch found an opening in the visitors' left side defence, but his shot was handled easily by the keeper. Garbsen's counterattacks created a good chance for N. Casasola on the right after 13 minutes, but he could only look on with dismay as his strike rebounded off the crossbar. With 24 minutes having been played, BB e.V. scored to make it 1 - 1. A dribble down the left wing, followed by a shot which took a wicked bounce off a defender resulted in the keeper having no chance. Everyone thought it'd been an own goal, but G. Frietsch was marked down as the scorer. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 1. BB e.V. claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.

It was obvious that Garbsen had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. 78 minutes into the match, Garbsen's M. Hoeness demonstrated his famed speed as he raced past his marker and passed the ball to N. Casasola who chipped it in for 1 - 2. Garbsen had a good opportunity to attack in the middle, but remembered their instructions to focus on wing attacks instead. 79 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 1 - 3 as M. Hoeness finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. M. Hoeness received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 80 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 1 - 4. The Garbsen fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. After 85 minutes Garbsen's H. Corrigan had to be carried off on a stretcher in agony. G. Rovedi came in to replace him. M. Meherg was handed the Garbsen captain's armband. Possession in this half belonged to BB e.V., who controlled the ball 53 percent of the time.

The most dominating BB e.V. player was without a doubt M. Knechtl. S. Rübenach was a disappointment, however. D. Fürhacker performed admirably for Garbsen. On the other hand, R. Daime's play was disheartening. The match ends 1 - 4.
