Clouds darkened the skies at
fishly Park as 28051 spectators turned up for the match.
Randy Nussberger was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Cem Batur and
Sieb Wever.
Solmsbach had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation.
Starters: Lilliu - Ribeiro, Neyret, Grangeio - Nackaerts, Egberink, Ezquerra, Baptista - D'Affronto, Matejak, Leuzzi.
Halsband started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players took the field: Fereghin - Canziani, Röwer, Al-Sharafi - Zúñiga, Almuíña, Corujeira, Röhrsdorf, Krulčik - Mena, Jansson.
Today, Solmsbach's strategy involved concentrating on the flanks for their attacks.
Halsband's
L. Mena gave the visitors a 0 - 1 lead after 12 minutes with a superb strike from the right.
Solmsbach's
A. Ribeiro made an attempt at equalising 17 minutes into the match, coming in from the right, but the ball hit the post and the defence easily cleared the rebound.
F. Leuzzi was just a finger's breadth away from an equaliser for Solmsbach with a strike from the left, but
D. Fereghin managed to ward the shot off for a corner.
0 - 1 was the score after the first half.
Halsband claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 56 percent.
After 46 minutes, Solmsbach switched
A. Ribeiro with
E. Borel, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch.
N. Zúñiga received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 47 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 2. The Halsband fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
With 50 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed
C. Jansson of Halsband to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 3.
Solmsbach's fans were urging them forward as they tried to get back into the game, and their vocal support was rewarded 69 minutes into the match as
F. Matejak ran onto a beautiful ball played through the visitors' defence and slotted it past the keeper to reduce the deficit. 1 - 3.
U. Rotor was called on to replace Solmsbach's
E. Borel after 77 minutes following a nasty collision.
Halsband increased their lead after 84 minutes when
S. Canziani broke through on the right, upping the score to 1 - 4, much to the home crowd's dismay.
After this, you could see that the players of Halsband were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
Possession in this half belonged to Halsband, who controlled the ball 55 percent of the time.
F. Matejak performed admirably for Solmsbach.
On the other hand,
U. Rotor's play was disheartening.
The most dominating Halsband player was without a doubt
L. Mena.
D. Fereghin turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 1 - 4.
