12000 fans turned up at Arena Nord- Ost, and despite threatening clouds, no rain came. Hinnerk Cousin was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Øyvind Kyrkjeeide and Mel Rinnooy Kan. The head coach flashed hand signals from the sideline and Nord-Ost formed up in a 4-3-3 combination. Let's hope the opposing sideline wasn't filming that. The following players had been selected: Mattesini - Grabarczyk, Avrahami, Sliunkovas, Rampone - Polizzi, Kerachev, Järvinen - Micciani, Mahlambeni, Elçibəy.

After thorough analysis and consultation of astrological charts, Olympique decided to go with a 3-4-3 formation. The following players took the field: Pascual - Barborinas, Suner, Saidys - Ege, Eicher, Sadik, Rosnati - Nesim, Drożdżyk, Dumontier.

Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Nord-Ost. Olympique concentrated their attacks in the middle of the field, rather than on the wings. Nord-Ost created a good opportunity to score 8 minutes into the game when L. Micciani's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, but the visitors' defenders eventually won out. Maybe G. Polizzi should join the aquatics team instead. He went down dramatically after 35 minutes, crying out with agony as he fell. The referee was not impressed, though, and showed him a yellow for diving. With 36 minutes gone, the home side took a 1 - 0 lead as A. Rampone raced down the right flank and casually flipped the ball into the net after a searing cross from the far side of the pitch. Halftime score was 1 - 0. The statistics geek breathlessly ran into the press box to show Olympique in control of the ball, with 56 percent possession. Thanks, Poindexter.

Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Olympique's L. Rosnati was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the field after 70 minutes. G. Sammarco was given a chance to change things around. The bench was restless, and with 70 minutes gone Olympique's coach gave G. Pescarmona the opportunity to try to change the team's fortunes. B. Eicher reluctantly left the field. Coming through the middle M. Dumontier almost scored the equalizer for Olympique after 76 minutes, but S. Mattesini made an excellent save, tipping the awkward swerving shot past the post. A swift counter-attack by Nord-Ost resulted in a free kick that L. Micciani elegantly bent into the goal - 2 - 0! At this point, it was obvious that the players of Nord-Ost lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. MY GOD, KING! E. Barborinas JUST GAVE A DEFENDER AN RKO OUT OF NOWHERE! MY GOD ALMIGHTY HE'S BROKEN IN HALF! Olympique are going to have to play the rest of the game a man down! Nord-Ost were forced into a substitution as L. Micciani couldn't continue playing due to some rough treatment, so P. Groza had to come in from the bench. As Nord-Ost's captain went off, he handed the armband to G. Polizzi. Olympique were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up coming through the center. Nord-Ost's coach was furious with T. Mahlambeni after he picked up a yellow for saying one too many words to the ref. Lewis Skolnick, in his Tri-Lamb sweater, grabbed the microphone away from the Olympique coach in order to tell him that his team had 62 percent possession this half. Nerds.

Nord-Ost's top performer was clearly İ. Elçibəy. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because R. Sliunkovas seemed to stumble all over the pitch. A. Ege performed admirably for Olympique. I can't remember M. Pascual ever having a worse night than he just had. The match ends 2 - 0.
