Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and
DieHölle saw a crowd turnout of 14756.
Akier Kareaga was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Damian Szuwar and
Mirko Huikuri.
s38 started off with a 3-4-3 lineup.
Starters: Mlađenović - Deisenrieder, Varma, Silfwerman - Petričević, Beugels, Tulleners, Czaniga - Cativa, Logelin, Cecere.
Vatterode tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Eisenprobst - Eibl, Blanckschein, Obermoser - Bennemann, Been, Vilotijević, Dickbauer, Schwendenwein - Lausecker, Wanschura.
It was an obvious ambition of s38 to use their ability at attacking on the flanks.
s38 took the lead after 2 minutes as a result of
R. Cecere's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 1 - 0.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
A. Varma from s38 a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 16 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
With 19 minutes gone, s38 had a free kick in a decent position. Despite this being a great chance for a shot, they tried a cheeky move intended to bypass the defence. However,
T. Logelin did not manage to connect with it cleanly and the ball went out.
J. Dickbauer seemed highly inexperienced when, after 36 minutes, he was caught dilly-dallying with the ball and allowed
E. Beugels to intercept and strike home the goal for s38 to make the score 2 - 0.
The visitors replied 38 minutes into the game, reducing the home side's lead to 2 - 1, as
G. Been dashed up the middle, easily lobbing the ball over the home team's keeper.
A cross coming in on the right hand side left
F. Blanckschein alone in front of the goal after 39 minutes but his shot was woeful.
s38 managed to extend their lead to 3 - 1 when
T. Logelin cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
Vatterode were desperate to get a goal back and pushed forward through the middle 41 minutes into the game. After a scramble in the box, the ball dropped to
J. Schwendenwein, who smashed it home to make the score 3 - 2.
The home side's
G. Cativa came close to extending the lead 42 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but
G. Eisenprobst managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop.
The teams went for the halftime break at 3 - 2.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by s38, with 57 percent of the ball.
Cheers filled the stadium as
G. Cativa broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 4 - 2 to s38.
After 53 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
A. Varma gave the s38 supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 5 - 2.
T. Logelin wanted to play on, but the s38 coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 66 minutes into the game by
S. Gottinger.
After 69 minutes, Vatterode raised their score by one when
J. Schwendenwein's dangerous low cross was cleverly tucked in at the near post by
R. Lausecker. 5 - 3.
The visitors got a chance to pulling one back after 71 minutes, due to a defensive blunder leaving
R. Wanschura completely unmarked. His strike was pathetic though, easy prey for the home side's keeper.
A. Varma left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 77 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead.
K. Jacobsson was the replacement.
s38's
S. Gottinger was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 80 minutes.
Content with how the game was proceeding, the s38 coach let
Ñ. Anguiano replace
A. Tulleners after 81 minutes.
After 82 minutes, s38's
P. Deisenrieder fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit!
Things were deteriorating for the away team as s38 scored another to make it 6 - 3 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
R. Petričević after 83 minutes.
Confident in their lead, s38's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
s38 claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.
Most important s38 player was
G. Cativa.
However,
T. Mlađenović made a disastrous appearance.
The most dominating Vatterode player was without a doubt
R. Lausecker.
J. Dickbauer on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 6 - 3.
