52916 fans turned up at Gebettempel Einsiedeln, and despite threatening clouds, no rain came. Alessio Reif was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Anders Claesson and Einer Nordtorp. Gentlemen prefer blondes and Einsiedeln prefers a 3-5-2. Let's see how this plays out for them. The following players took the field: Schnitz - Ponce, Bona, Klets - Dutari, Tissandier, Stralenheim, Zwicky, Vicastillo - Scharer, Stöpel.

Cry "havoc" and let loose the dogs of war! Athletic will go to battle in a 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been selected: Schaad - Bosch, Cimino, Fleischli - Egg, Kunth, Pellegrin, Laig, Florea - Rufin, Bustamante.

The 5 minute mark saw the home team take a 1 - 0 lead after a breaking through on the left. The scorer for Einsiedeln was E. Ponce. After more pushing and shoving than a pack of helicopter moms trying to get the last appointment for their snowflakes to see the Easter Bunny, Einsiedeln's J. Vicastillo finally got himself booked for a foul. Parents shielded their children's eyes as Athletic's T. Laig left the field on a stretcher from a studs-first challenge. Oh good night - his thigh is ripped open! It looks like a pack of zombies got a hold of him! M. Coatti took his place on the pitch. An accurate cross from Einsiedeln's J. Vicastillo was met with a wonderful off-balance header from Q. Stöpel, hitting the inside base of the post before curling up into the back of the net like a dog in front of a fire for 2 - 0. With 18 minutes played, L. Scharer could have brought this one home for Einsiedeln as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. Q. Stöpel increased Einsiedeln's lead to 3 - 0, connecting with a hooked ball from the right. The away fans are claiming handball, to no avail. It was 3 - 0 at the break. Einsiedeln were doing a good job holding on to the ball, with 56 percent of possession.

Athletic managed to reduce their deficit as R. Bustamante finished off a well-played combination from the left, easily carving through the home team's defense after 48 minutes. Einsiedeln were given a penalty after 50 minutes - neatly put away by L. Scharer. 4 - 1 for the home side. Einsiedeln's players now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. Everyone knows P. Cimino is the man to mark on corner kicks, but 55 minutes in he got free of the defender and set a ball towards goal, which was saved by the keeper. Einsiedeln managed to extend their lead to 5 - 1 when L. Scharer slid in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. L. Scharer had put in a good 65 minutes and left the field with a smile on his face due to his team's lead. R. Gély was the replacement. Einsiedeln showed their counter-attacking skill 75 minutes into the match by breaking through the middle, with P. Dutari scoring an easy goal for 6 - 1. Big paper red cards were being held up by the opposing supporters with 84 minutes on the clock after M. Stralenheim's mistimed tackle from behind. The referee only showed the Einsiedeln player a yellow card though. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Einsiedeln, with an impressive 56 percent possession of the ball.

Q. Stöpel performed admirably for Einsiedeln. I can't remember B. Klets ever having a worse night than he just had. The most outstanding Athletic player was without a doubt J. Kunth. Speaking of stinking up the place, K. Fleischli sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham. The match ends 6 - 1.
