The players of Potenza now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. In a rapid move 20 minutes into the match, N. Van Assche was, after 34 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper A. Caron made the save. With 38 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed P. Moraglia of Potenza to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 4. Potenza were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally. A. Viagem received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 43 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 5. The Potenza fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 5. After 59 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave C. Coelho Neves a chance to increase the lead for Potenza, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 6. B.
