The 37418 spectators at Lahden Kisapuisto were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Asser Backman was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Rami Mesika and Maximilien Ysewyn. Kuusysi had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. They fielded: Thorstensson - Valle, Jehanno, Klingler - Harrison, Sharf, Vamzis, Okgüç, Iordache - Metsäketo, Ahola.

A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Kalmot. The following players had been chosen: Piilonen - Nylander, Mansikka, Kononov, Salminen - Kukkasniemi, Siurua, Suomela, Kiiliäinen - Uurasmaa, Rantonen.

With 2 minutes played, N. Sharf of Kuusysi fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. 6 minutes into the match and the home team took a 1 - 0 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for Kuusysi was C. Jehanno. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, K. Ahola got himself booked. The manager of Kuusysi was not happy. Kuusysi's N. Klingler struck his penalty well enough to beat the goalkeeper and extend the home team's lead to 2 - 0 after 21 minutes. T. Kononov rose like a salmon, and was very close to scoring with a header after a corner, but sent the ball just over the bar. After 27 minutes, S. Valle put Kuusysi ahead 3 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. Confident in their lead, Kuusysi's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. Kalmot's T. Kononov left the field after 35 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was J. Muuri. Kuusysi were given a gift! The ref dubiously awarded them a penalty 37 minutes into the match, which was neatly put away by N. Klingler. 4 - 0 for the home side. 4 - 0 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to Kuusysi, who controlled the ball 86 percent of the time.

Kuusysi solidified their lead at the 58 minute mark, as C. Jehanno dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 5 - 0. The intense heat forced C. Harrison into making some errors because he couldn't seem to keep up with the others. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Kuusysi's S. Metsäketo increasing the lead to 6 - 0. Cheers filled the stadium as K. Ahola broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 7 - 0 to Kuusysi. 82 minutes into the match, Kuusysi's C. Harrison demonstrated his famed speed as he raced past his marker and passed the ball to K. Ahola who chipped it in for 8 - 0. After 83 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and S. Metsäketo gave the Kuusysi supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 9 - 0. T. Mansikka of Kalmot was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. Kuusysi put themselves up 10 - 0 when C. Jehanno broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. This third goal completed a hattrick for C. Jehanno. Kuusysi had most of the ball, with 87 percent of possession.

Kuusysi's top performer was clearly N. Sharf. S. Metsäketo turned in a dismal performance, however. The most dominating Kalmot player was without a doubt L. Suomela. On the other hand, R. Piilonen's play was disheartening. The match ends 10 - 0.
