Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and Lotto-King-Karl Kampfbahn saw a crowd turnout of 4655. Olexandr Nechyporuk was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Felice Marano and Kyanu Moerenhout. Barmbek had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. Destruction started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. They fielded: Markevich - Surinčák, Navarro, Knutsson, Zweck - Meissner, Tijskens, Hofbauer, Wache - Fenz, Mpalouris.

Destruction clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle. The visiting T. Meissner was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 3 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score. 5 minutes in, Barmbek's O. Sadun received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. T. Zweck's lack of experience almost gave Barmbek a goal after 31 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave M. Mittnacht from Barmbek a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 32 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! A loud groan was heard from the fans of Destruction, as R. Tijskens left the pitch in too much pain to finish the match. L. Unterhuber took his place on the field. H. Hofbauer received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 34 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 2. The Destruction fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. T. Zweck was, after 36 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper B. Seulberg made the save. T. Meissner dispatched a majestic long shot 37 minutes into the match, but missed the goal by a few metres. After 38 minutes, Destruction's T. Mpalouris burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 3. The players of Destruction now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. 0 - 3 was the score after the first half. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Destruction, with 71 percent of the ball.

The visitors' T. Mpalouris took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 47 minutes into the match. 0 - 4 for Destruction. Barmbek's J. Sporbert left the field after 70 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was I. Besina. After 71 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave H. Hofbauer a chance to increase the lead for Destruction, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 5. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Destruction, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. After 86 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for A. Navarro who increased Destruction's lead to 0 - 6. A. Navarro of Destruction took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 87 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 7. Destruction had most of the ball, with 78 percent of possession.

F. Meneghesso performed admirably for Barmbek. B. Seulberg turned in a dismal performance, however. Destruction's best player was J. Fenz. However, K. Markevich made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 7.
