previous 5/5 next 2/5  Milton 3 - 0 Beaucerone (370463975)

A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 16100 to Anvers Arena. Eirik Norbye was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Aldo Sinibaldi and Luuk Vliegen. Milton started off with a 4-5-1 lineup. They fielded: Ben Yaghlene - Valla, Camus, Merrien, François - Sénéchal, Aulnette, van Eekeres, Cihanerk, Demay - Le Bras.

A 4-5-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Beaucerone. The following players took the field: Tzvetanov - Gottsten, Atsidakos, Elordui, Rhouma - Lepaul, Laval, Granollachs, Leferink, Cocchia - Arnould.

Milton were relying on their ability to counter-attack. Beaucerone clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could. After some beautiful movement down the left wing, D. Cihanerk scored for Milton putting them ahead 1 - 0, after 5 minutes. 24 minutes in, Beaucerone appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only solid. After 25 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and D. Valla gave the Milton supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 2 - 0. It was 2 - 0 at the break. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Milton, with 73 percent of the ball.

During the break, Beaucerone's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to solid organisation. D. Valla could have increased the lead after 51 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. It wasn't a good day at all for K. Sénéchal. His powerful style of play just didn't fit the bill on this warm day. After 55 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by V. Le Bras might have resulted in another goal for Milton. However, D. Tzvetanov made a spectacular save. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. R. François squirmed through their central defence after 60 minutes, increasing the lead to 3 - 0. Confident in their lead, Milton's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. Milton's D. Valla showed off his trademark ability to do the unexpected with a tricky pass after 65 minutes. Unfortunately, K. Sénéchal was startled by the play and wasn't able to control the finish. With 66 minutes played, V. Le Bras could have brought this one home for Milton as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. D. Valla unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. Milton claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 76 percent.

V. Le Bras performed admirably for Milton. S. Aulnette on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important Beaucerone player was P. Arnould. T. Laval turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 3 - 0.
