(370680155)

07-04-2012 21.30
The crowd of 6206 turning up at
Doofers Arena today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain.
Rene Larsen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Nunzio Palluzzi and
Jørgen Kristensen.
Fans of both teams had been eagerly awaiting this
South Glamorgan derby and were doing their best to outshout their opponents.
Doofers tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Butler - Peters, Hersee, Evans, Savage - Atkinson, Smith, Bowen, Thomas - Sully, Fuge.
Wanderers started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
Starters: Llewellyn - Wilkinson, Gadarn, Rhys - Jones, Whicker, Hartley, Blackmore, Williams - Pritchard, Thompson.
The guests almost went up by a goal after 8 minutes when
D. Rhys came through and shot from the right. The ball bounced harmlessly off the post, though.
T. Hartley of Wanderers received a yellow card after 9 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
S. Williams was uncomfortable with the soggy pitch as he couldn't move the ball around with his usual grace.
20 minutes into the game,
B. Whicker almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar.
Doofers bypassed the midfield with their counterattack, leading to a free kick goal by
R. Peters for 1 - 0.
Wanderers's
D. Rhys was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 36 minutes.
1 - 0 was the halftime score.
Wanderers claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 56 percent.
Wanderers's
D. Thompson had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 65 minutes having been played.
N. Gower was the replacement.
84 minutes into the game Wanderers's
D. Pritchard found a gap in the home side's central defence and scored with a fabulous shot, making it 1 - 1.
Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 85 minutes into the match left Wanderers's
D. Pritchard completely free to score. 1 - 2 for the visitors.
The muddy pitch made the game a gritty affair, which seemed to suit
P. Jones just fine.
Wanderers had most of the ball, with 56 percent of possession.
Doofers's best player was
C. Smith.
On the other hand,
O. Butler's play was disheartening.
Wanderers's top performer was clearly
D. Rhys.
M. Llewellyn on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 1 - 2.
