Weather conditions were fairly good for soccer, and Shogun's Arena saw a turnout of 44538. The head coach flashed hand signals from the sideline and Samurais formed up in a 3-4-3 combination. Let's hope the opposing sideline wasn't filming that. Starters: Susardi - Hagman, Sykes, Javanainen - Brandão, Fröhbrodt, Ash, Lindholm - Tambornino, Furkan, Kublar-Glueck.

Cry "havoc" and let loose the dogs of war! Indios will go to battle in a 3-5-2 formation. Lineup: Rahman - Simonsen, Lauerer, Hansen - Kazandzhiev, Lameirinhas, Ribeiro, de Deus, Ficotoro - Persson, Guerrico.

Samurais could have put themselves ahead after 5 minutes but F. Tambornino mishit a volley on a ball coming in from the right. E. Fröhbrodt brought the corner down with his chest before whipping it to L. Kublar-Glueck who had the whole net open before him, but his attempt hit the post. After 19 minutes, F. Tambornino sprinted between the opposing defenders and laid the ball off to L. Kublar-Glueck, whose shot was saved by the keeper. Samurais took the lead 26 minutes in, after L. Kublar-Glueck's awkward, but ultimately successful, shot from the right. 1 - 0. L. Lindholm almost put Samurais ahead another goal when he curled a free kick over the defensive wall and almost into the net, but the visitors' keeper got there just in time to knock it wide. Was it the hair gel? Was it a gift from the gods? Either way, the faithful won't care. Soaring like a Saturn V, O. Brandão somehow got his head on a L. Lindholm moonshot from the corner and buried it in the back of the net. What grace! What power! Plant the flag for Samurais, Neil Armstrong! The score is now 2 - 0. Samurais added another goal to their lead as K. Furkan struck home for 3 - 0 after an attack from the left set him up unmarked in front of the keeper. L. Kublar-Glueck was not content with his team's lead, and tried to extend it 37 minutes into the game after a nice run through the middle, but his shot went wide. The teams went for the halftime break at 3 - 0. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Samurais, with an impressive 53 percent possession of the ball.

The home team's lead was reduced to 3 - 1 after Indios's R. Lauerer took advantage of a misunderstanding in the center of the defense. L. Lindholm gave Samurais supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 4 - 1 after 57 minutes, following a good exchange of passes on the right that the away team failed to deal with. L. Tavares was called on to replace Samurais's L. Kublar-Glueck after 59 minutes following a nasty collision. The home team's fans were upset when, after 67 minutes, the visiting G. Ficotoro broke through the central defense and got the ball past the keeper. 4 - 2 was the score. M. Guerrico could've grabbed a goal for Indios 71 minutes in when he got a pass from the left putting him free of the home side's defense, but he was unable to take advantage of the situation. F. Tambornino stunned the crowd with a brilliant counter-attack from the left, giving Samurais the goal to make it 5 - 2. By now, the players of Samurais felt that victory was a sure thing and began to play it safe, focusing on defense and not risking too much going forward. Samurais set the tempo, maintaining 51 percent of possession.

Samurais's best player was J. Ash. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because B. Susardi seemed to stumble all over the pitch. The most outstanding Indios player was without a doubt G. Lameirinhas. I can't remember A. Rahman ever having a worse night than he just had. The match ends 5 - 2.
