A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 44009 to Goodhew Park. Manojlo Vidojević was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Felipe Alzuhn and Zygfryd Kajtowski. The rivalry game had been the talk of New South Wales all week and fans of both teams could be seen throughout the stadium. A 5-3-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Langhams. Starters: Viso - Gorrizarri, Ubago, Akbaşak, Troska, Võsu - Besterman, Spil, Lam - Falaniko, Barczyk.

Ockers had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation. The following players had been selected: Barcos - Criades, Weetra, Alfaia, Garza - Thijssen, Renouard, Ehlberg, Gill, Erman - Portaro.

Ockers went for a narrow approach, focusing their attacks down the middle. Ockers's I. Erman sent an early cross that saw the defenders caught out of position and the alert R. Portaro was able to pounce and roll the ball past the hapless netminder to make the score 0 - 1. After 25 minutes, Ockers's G. Renouard successfully broke up a pass with his face. Instinctively, he got up again only to unintentionally use his now-throbbing schnozz to break up a second pass. As he was carted off for a concussion check, J. Gallegos ran onto the field to take his place. It was obvious that Ockers had instructions to attack in the middle when they directed a break on the wing into the center of the park. 28 minutes into the match, P. Criades came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. With 29 minutes gone, a long pass from the defense of Langhams resulted in a counter-attack that set W. Besterman free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save. With 30 minutes played, Ockers put themselves up 0 - 2 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was I. Erman. 0 - 2 was the halftime score. Lewis Skolnick, in his Tri-Lamb sweater, grabbed the microphone away from the Ockers coach in order to tell him that his team had 76 percent possession this half. Nerds.

Content with how the game was proceeding, the Ockers coach let M. Marsden come on for O. Garza after 46 minutes. With the scoreboard showing that 51 minutes had been played, Ockers nearly put themselves up another goal after M. Marsden came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save. A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot from the right by I. Erman beat the keeper with 52 minutes played, preventing Ockers from going up another goal. It was a hot and sunny day, and several players seemed worn out. Maybe this was why A. Alfaia found an unusual amount of space for his snappy footwork. Given a free kick from a ways out after 54 minutes, Ockers sent an arching ball into the penalty box. It was headed clear, but W. Gill was waiting just outside the area and fired it home to make it 0 - 3. With this kind of heat, a slower passing game gives the best results. Unfortunately, this didn't suit T. Weetra at all, as he found he couldn't show off his noted strength and power because of the high temperatures. Ockers had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle instead. The game had been going for 64 minutes when P. Criades broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 4 for Ockers, much to the home crowd's dismay. After 78 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defense allowed R. Ehlberg to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 5. Confident in their lead, Ockers's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. Ockers were doing a good job holding on to the ball, with 79 percent of possession.

Most important Langhams player was A. Barczyk. E. Viso on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most outstanding Ockers player was without a doubt R. Ehlberg. M. Marsden turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 0 - 5.
