Devil tried to focus their attacks down the middle.
G. Legrand caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 4 minutes. This gave Devil the 1 - 0 lead.
Devil had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks.
Devil solidified their lead at the 14 minute mark, as
A. Dubey dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 2 - 0.
After 15 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
S. Baiocchi gave the Devil supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 3 - 0.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of Devil lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
Cheers filled the stadium as
G. Legrand broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 4 - 0 to Devil.
A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Devil to 5 - 0 as
S. Baiocchi finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle.
It was 5 - 0 at the break.
Devil claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 75 percent.
Devil players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead.
A. bin Ismail tried using a burst of speed to get past his defender after 52 minutes, but it takes more than that to get past fast
S. Lüftenegger.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
G. Legrand squirmed through their central defence after 57 minutes, increasing the lead to 6 - 0.
That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for
G. Legrand.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Devil's
V. Pandey increasing the lead to 7 - 0.
Devil increased the lead as
G. Legrand struck to make the score 8 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
Devil had most of the ball, with 69 percent of possession.
A. Justo performed admirably for Devil.
However,
A. Dubey made a disastrous appearance.
Most important Melaka player was
S. Seng-Hee.
A. Dhameja was a disappointment, however.
